why hasn't anyone been talking about this card? at this performance...with agp8x full dx9.0 compatibility, is this the competition we have been waiting for? if it lives up to its estimated scores..and if its released at a budget price i assume? wouldn't that shake up the 3d graphics market quite a bit.

There are some reasons why its been so quiet about it...

First, VIA and S3G have kept quiet about it.

Second, it is still far off in the future, everyone is busy thinking about NV30 or buying R300s....

Third, since it is actually the reshaped S3, (S3G), who's doing the chip, some people tend to assume it will be horrible, due to old S3's not-perfect historu of chipmaking.
Personally I have high hopes for it.. I always liked the S3 chips, though I admit they had problems.. :)

I think I know what was the problem at S3, and I hope that VIA have put it right at S3G... (Though I saw an old S3 employee post at Rage3D saying that VIA did no such thing :( )

VIA + S3 isn't exactly a recipe for stability or performance ;)

kidding aside, since the silicon is S3 stuff, i doubt it will be very good. the Savage2000 was anything but impressive, and any company that can actually put hardware TnL on the box as a feature and then not have it working doesn't deserve much respect. once S3 got drivers out that allowed hadware TnL to be used, the card was actually slower lol.

S3 has lost all their credibility
