Its been some time since I played Crysis last time and it was running quite bad. I though to install in on my current sig rig and check how it runs.

First level: widndows 7 very high. Shadows medium 1680:1050 no aa
And its working around 20-30.
I am so unhappy with the performance. Its performing much better than about 2 years back when I had medium most of things to get fps like that but anyway. 3 years old game 30 fps!:headexplode:
And even though changing to 1280x800 adds 10fps I cant force myslef to play at so low res.

And I want to reply it becouse I hyped myself somehow again.
The only options which hit performance going from high to veryhigh are Shaders and post processing.
So If I switch those to high and shadows to medium leaving everything else at vh setting and 1680x1050 I am able to get 30-40fps mosty.

But then my sick mind is lacking of Parallax mapping on the floor and sun shafts :headexplode:

I hate myself for being like that.

kindda strange. when I had my 8800GTS i could play everything on high with 1680x1050 and it was playable. not silky smooth, but easily smooth enough.

Crysis is only 2 years old. And it isn't going to get any faster as it ages if you don't upgrade your computer.

Play the game in DirectX 9 mode with everything set to high and then lower a few things to medium. I wouldn't set anything to very high on an 8800GT.

Same... I run it at max DX9 right now with 4xAA and 16xAF forced at 1080p and it runs at 35-40fps.

run a better custom config to get the good visuals without the performance hit that higher level settings from crytek nail your system with.

I convinced myself long ago that this game is truly just too far ahead of it's time as far as everything it's trying to render. it's still the best looking game by far and I'm convinced that we won't get constant 40+ frame rates with the settings maxed out until late 2010 unless these fermi chips are really as fast as they claim.

it took what... 4 gtx295's to get 60 fps at max settings? unbelievable...

You only have a 8800GT - which was a mid card 2 years ago...

I have a HD5870 now and am running 75 FPS in Crysis 1680x1050 2xaa all high in dx10. At 4x AA I drop to an avg 72 FPS. Very high w/aa I avg in the 40s. You can't really expect a mid range card from 2 years ago to give you better performance than it did then... new GPU makes a world of difference.

I am still using the one you gave me :)

But but but Windows 7 is supposed to make everything better including 2 year old graphic cards...aw you all are no fun :headexplode:

You probably can't even run Crysis at an acceptable framerate on very high with 2 8800 GTs. You can enable Parallax mapping and sunshafts without using the very high shaders, just have to use a custom configuration and you'll get the performance of high shaders. Personally I hate the parallax mapping because it makes the textures a blurry mess at a distance when parallax is applied to them.

Hic, your 8800gt is what was available when crysis first came out, and at that point it wasnt exactly like smooth as glass, or even close to it. now maybe with one of the video cards that are 2 generations older...

They should post Crysis to PS3 so we can play it how it was meant to be played.

I thought if you buy an Nvidia card, then you are playing it the way it was meant to be played.

No. Crysis was designed for Matrox cards...

I never used a custom config ever and I played the game on an 8800GTS for God's sake. There is no reason he cannot do so... put the settings on high, maybe a few on medium, settle for 2xAA and play the damn game.

I did this as well, 8800GTS 640 but on Medium with aa @ 1440x900. He doesn't want to drop any settings, check the first post. I have gone back and replayed a bit with my HD5870 and it just looks and runs amazing now. Much better than the 40- 50 FPS I was getting on Medium with aa @ 1440x90.

Yeah, my point was more at him... this is what you can do with your card, do it and play the game, stop worrying about it.

Oprah is not on Sundays and if it was she would probably agree that there would be no need for swearing about this subject, Velvet.

I agree. I played through Crysis on my G92 8800GT at 1680x1050, all on high except shaders on medium, noAA, 16xAF and it was very playable.

:D

How does Crysis performance compare to say Far Cry 2? I can max out Far Cry 2 and get really good fps readings. I don't have Crysis but will pick it up one of these days and I'm just wondering how well it will perform on the system in my sig. I see velvet has a similar setup and he says it plays well.

+1. Buy a wii.

You will be fine. fastredponycar has some great configs. I had noticeable slowdowns only in one level.

Not with a 5870 crossfire rig. Runs great:D
