Why wait for that when Ventrilo is the best.

And for you nerds who cry about resource usage and bandwith, if you computer and bandwidth cannot handle Ventrilo then you better upgrade that 486DX Gateway.

$3 for a 10 person server is too much? And it would be half that if you bought a game server as well.

You can also host with vent, 8 people slots. Host and connect on the same PC.

Was just on TS3 and it isn't as good as Vent.

Since mumble 1.2.0 really came up in quality and is free, how can vent compete at all.

Um, vent is free

I hate people who push open source crap. The amount of people what use open source programs are so small compared to the whole of computer users. Making open source programs can only work if the rest of the computer programing industry is making money of the programs they sell. Basically open source leeches off the industry and pretends they are so high and moral.

You lie!!

no U lie!

Haven't had the time to test TS 3, but Mumble was the best so far. Top notch sound quality and it was the only one, that had a perfectly working voice activation. Everything else is just a bonus.

Our squad is using TS3 now ... Some nice improvements over TS2, Especially the voice quality.

The free Ventrillo used to be connection capped. I also wouldn't be pushing the "open source crap" when the alternative is "you expect me to pay for closed source crap that isn't any better than the open source crap".

btw: linux on the desktop sucks ass.

You don't have to pay to use Vent. You can set up your own server.

My guild has always used TS, so I havn't used vent much and can't compare. It is an outstanding upgrade to TS 2.0 though!

I'm trying to patent using networks of cans on strings as a more available and affordable alternative. My patent for yelling at your teammates fell through...they said it caused too much confusion at LAN parties, where people are already swearing at the top of their lungs.

:p

This is like Beta -vs- VHS, or BluRay -vs- HDDVD.

Let's just pick one standard and go with it. Honestly, TS2 is still quite capable.

I grabbed the 64 bit client of the TS3 and after a good install and initial test, I started getting corrupt graphics (couldn't read the text it was so garbled). I uninstalled as there's still no definitive reason to switch to anything else...yet.

Every time I see this title I read it as Team Fortress 3
