For those that have a black aluminum case, how hard is it to keep that thing clean?

Well, not too hard. A damp cloth works wonders. :)

Requires some maintenance but not too bad.

what if after wiping with damp lint-free towel the towel grey to dark grey in color, seems like paint might be rubbing off.

You got yer'self a cheap case with a cheap paint job if it lint-free damp cloth takes paint off.

Not hard at all. I haven't had anything BUT a black aluminum case and it's fine. Not a hassle at all.

If a lint-free damp cloth causes the paint to come off- then you're either wiping *way* too hard, or that's cheap paint.

i mean to say the case wasn't cheap, but yes i do agree the finish is cheap, but what can you expect from Chinese products.

Wow.

My cases aluminium bits don't get that dirty, per se, but I have never had that happen when I have wiped the chassis down before :o

What case do you have?

I have a CM 830 Stacker (nv ed). I usually use a (very) diluted dish washing liquid (we have something called "max" which comes in lemon and orange "flavours") with a soft cloth. No problems with the paint work on the aluminum bits or the plastic

It is a dust magnet, but no problems with paint quality.

Black aluminum case's should be anodized not painted.

Yup. My Stacker 832 has been to friends houses sat on the back seat of the car so many times it should be scratched to hell, but after almost 2 years there's hardly a mark on it. Just wipe it down with a damp cloth and it looks like new

P182. The doors are gun-metal black finished, I just wipe it down, perfectly fine.

same towel (other side), wiped front cover again
I don't have to wipe it that often, this is more of a test, since knowing what happens.

It almost saddens me to see that :(

Do you think the manufacturer will provide some kind of warranty coverage for this shoddy paintjob?

i still have about 10 days to return it, it will probably end up going to the store, but now with christmas around the corner my PC will be caseless for couple days

Hate to see that nekro. I thought quality was higher on those cases.

excellent Chinese workmanship.

anyway, quite sure i will return it, so back to same question, what case should i get :|

considering:

HAF mini = small, metal, should have no rubbing of paint, strange looking
HAF = large, metal, should have no rubbing of paint, strange looking
Lian-li A70F = large, aluminum, better have a decent finish!!
Silverstone FT02 = medium, aluminum, weird 90 degree motherboard placement

Can't go wrong with either of the last 2. Not had any experience with the new Silverstone 90 degree cases, but who knows, they make good stuff :)

That's odd... nothing comes off of my Silvertsone when I wipe it down.
