saw this on VR-Zone

Donanimhaber.com published a new video interview with Luciano Alibrandi form Nvidia.

Some highlights from video;

Alibrandi said;

- Fermi based GPUs will be fastest solutions in the market.
- We are very happy to see internal test results of Fermi.
- Fermi architecture developing for every single segment, dual GPU is also possible for Nvidia.
- We are very happy to work with TSMC but also we are always looking for another oppurtinies.
- ION 2 and Tegra 2 are very near to launch.

oppurtinies

Again,all they're doing is talking and not showing actual performance numbers,or even a release date for that matter,and the weeks and months just keep passing by....ATI's cards have been out now for slightly over 3 months now.

Talking only goes so far.

I think they are saying the opposite of what they actually think....

insert "not" into the above quote appropriately and it may be more on the money...

- Fermi based GPUs will not be fastest solutions in the market.
- We are not very happy to see internal test results of Fermi.
- Fermi architecture developing for every single segment, dual GPU is also not possible for Nvidia.
- We are not very happy to work with TSMC but also we are always looking for another oppurtinies.
- ION 2 and Tegra 2 are not very near to launch.

I'm pretty confident about everything except dual GPU.

Yes, I'm sure they CAN do dual GPU, but with what chips? A fully fledged GTX380, no way, even a 360 I see unlikely. Also, when? 6 months from now?

Everything they say will bite them in the ass if it doesn't happen anyways,and time just keeps on passing by and we shouldn't even think for one second that ATI enginneers are just sitting on their asses since the HD5*** were released,and waiting for Nvidia to get it's stuff together with regards to Fermi.

The longer it's delayed,the shorter the time it'll have on the spotlight as the fastest thing out there,assuming it is faster in the first place,which is a big unknown at this point....

And you think NVIDIA's engineers are just sitting around waiting for Fermi and that's it? OK :)

No I think that they already know that fermi= teh sux and they are already designing/revising the architecture so that in late 2010 early 2011 they are competitive with the 6000 series.

Nvidia cannot win this round on price/performance....neutering the tesla cards has already revealed their weakness.

I doubt it too,but there's a difference between a product that's out the door and selling like hot cakes,in that the engineering team that developed that product can completely concentrate on future products.

The staff responsible for fermi is likely still ironing out the kinks with it,as it seems they're now waiting for the results on the A3 revision and hoping that's the final one before mass production can start.

there's a bit of a better (partial) translation up on X-bit labs

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20091226130553_Nvidia_Is_Happy_With_Performance_of _GeForce_GF100_Fermi_Graphics_Card.html
“We expect [Fermi] to be the fastest GPU in every single segment. The performance numbers that we have [obtained] internally just [confirms] that. So, we are happy about this and are just finalizing everything on the driver side,”

“We just want to make sure it is as perfect as we want it to be in both graphics and computing
[performance and quality],”

also, the "latest Geforce" will be shown at CES after all?

Probably a GTX285 that they've rebranded as a GTX350 to compete with the HD5700s. :bleh:

And they still claim in an XBIT article that it'll be released in Q1/2011 which for Nvidia,means between january 26th 2010 and april 26th 2010,so still pretty vague for a chip that's supposedly ready and performing to Nvidia's expectations,especially with the A3 revision still in the works.

AGP 2-stroke?

Well at least we know it will be a vindicated unit with a phasechange waterblock operating on 3 transistors to keep it under the 300 watt's that the compressor and water pump will take to run. It'll be called the vindicator 9000.

I guess then they'd be hmmmmm.........."vindicated"
