Hmmm... I have a feeling the performance these cards off will be indicative of ATi's refresh. Looking forward to how these perform- FPS, cooling, etc. However, my next GPU will be ATi's refresh at the earliest, quite possibly next gen. These dual 8800GTXs are serving me well for now. :)

2x 8pin pci-e power connectors is interesting. They should do that with a 5970.

1000mhz is crazy fast. If fermi doesn't stack up I will be grabbing hte biggest 5 series I can afford and sell my 2x260's

That's basically my plan. Though it'll be the refresh of the 5 series for me. :D

Bought my MSI radeon 5870 for $380 shipped. Flashed with the Asus bios and water cooled. been running 1Ghz / 1300 since I got it. Load temp never breaks 36 c. Hope you guys don't pay too much for the same thing I've had for 3 months LOL.

Well the 2 x 8-pin power connectors may help push it well up over 1000MHz with water cooling so there could still be a benefit. Not to mention the better cooler for us humble air cooling folk.

Ill prolly get a couple...I like the cooler with two fans. I think these card will clock well over 1000MHz.

Yep I know quit a few folks doing 1000-1030/1300 with MSI's AfterBurner.

I'm not surprised companies will be releasing factory overclocked versions at that speed.

I really love using a single GPU again.

+1, I'll never use dual again here.

Can anyone please post a few benchmarks comparing results for 8500-1000MHz core?:)

I want to know when these will hit retail. Just found out my 4870x2 is dead (thought it was a bunch of other stuff only just found out for sure). A 5870 isn't really an upgrade over a 4870x2 but this would be good.

Viral ppl are saying that you can try your luck and see if yours can handle the voltage and achieve 1000mhz. I tend to think those chips are cherry picked thou, and finding one of the other cheaper models that can do that would not be easy.

Mine is 1.162v stock I needed 1.187 for 1000mhz. Not a whole lot of tinkering here...

The factory overclocked asus card @ 1050 is at 1.3v you dont need THAT much!

Has Crossfire improved that much, Xion?

I gave it a chance with cards from every generation, X1900XTs to HD 4890s. I ended up being annoyed by little things to the point of dumping it every time. I remember you being critical of it too, to the point of replacing it with SLi.

Now I've got single manually overclocked HD 5870s in both my computers.

Would be interesting to see the 1Ghz 5850 go up against the similarly clocked 5870. :) The difference was only 2-3% with both at 850/4800Mhz.

Too bad ATi drivers are crap. Good potential, ****ty drivers. I have them for three months now, and every drivers fixes some and breaks some.

I'll sell my HD5870's as soon as Fermi launches.... And never buy an ATi card again. (Crossfire sucks.)

NOFI btw.

NOFI btw.I had issues when I first bought these cards but now everything is fine.

The drivers seem to be getting better if you ask me.

Same here. Can't wait to ditch this ATI card.
Haven't had so many small PC issues since the 680i chipset days.

I even have Crossfire disabled most of the times, otherwise Fraps isn't working correctly.

Completely, 100% honest, I've had WAY more problems with NV drivers in the last 3 years compared to ATI.
