Or, it could be about the catalyst 10.3a performance review. You know, what was actually in the link.

But while we're ignoring links, I'm speculating that his disappointment stems from the lack of unicorns in his chicken soup.

Damned Unicorns, there's never enough to go round.

Yeah you're right, in fanboy land gaining 20-30% isn't that impressive... but being 5% faster is OMFG MUST HAVE!!!!1111oneone Right?

Most guys aren't upgrading from 5870, but GTX 200-series cards so it's not 5%.

So maybe it will be 50% but when I upgraded from 7900 to 8800 I had more than 200%! It's still bad :/

The reviews will be online Saturday at 1am in Germany iirc. Or maybe even midnight, or I'm not sure.

Alright let me shed some light. You can expect a FULL review tomorrow here at Guru3D -- in fact I am at 35 pages content ATM.

I talked to an AIB this afternoon, they expect good volume to arrive on Monday then add a couple of days for distribution.

35 Pages :p

Is there a time on the NDA or come midnight they can post their reviews?

Seems to be midnight which means... Australia should be first? Or Japan since there's no computers in Australia

You know sometimes when you get excited enough about something it seems like your brain just shuts itself off.. :o Are you going to include Metro2033 in your review? :)

I plan to begin comparing performance against the Radeon 5870 after I get off work tomorrow and into the weekend. I already have DX9/DX10 results against the GeForce 280 GTX and GeForce 295 GTX. The apps I will be testing are the latest Unigine benchmark, Dirt 2, Metro 2033 and Just Cause 2.

It's just my luck to have come down with the flu the day after I received the GeForce GTX 480, so I am pretty much behind in what other web sites will be offering. I was floored when I read that the Guru of 3D will have a 35-page review!

There were also a number of developments that occurred this week. Version 2.0 of the Unigine Heaven benchmark was released a few days ago and I discovered that BitSquid has released a beta of their new StoneGiant DX11 demo.

So I will be posting information from my "First Look" in a forum thread. I am also open to conduct any specialized testing that forum members may request.

Image quality testing, especially when it comes to the new filtering modes that are rumored, would probably be interesting. If Guru3D really publishes a 35 page review that doesn't consist of 90% ads it should cover a lot of questions though... we'll know what's missing after that ;)

Good stuff, Mike. I like that you're testing the latest and greatest in games. I look forward to the review.

I'd like to see some temperature comparisons between the cards if you have time. I'll probably be picking up a 470 for my renderbox and just have general interest into how warm 480 will get under load.

Would you please benchmark Crysis/Crysis Warhead as they are still the most taxing games out IMHO, and very popular. Also COD Modern Warfare2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 would be great! :D

I'm very curious to see how my new 5870 compares to Nvidias' best in these games that I play regularly.

Thanks MikeC!

Sounds great! Hope you feel better already and don't worry about Guru3d's review as that will most likely only consist of pictures of the card with a few written lines on 30 of the 35 of the pages! Are you using the 10.3a for the 5870? :) Also could you do a max OC vs max OC benchmark(many users would like to see this)?

Mike, you are obviously allergic to the card, having fallen sick upon receipt.

I'll take it off your hands for a bottle of advil if you want :bleh:

p.s. get well soon :)

Looking forward to the first look!

Wonder if anyone will review/bench Age of Conan (game I exclusively play..so a bit selfish). The new feature of the FERMI based cards are supposed to allow for better AA of "grass" etc in the game
