View Full Version : Demanding games?
I want to put my laptop through it's paces (see sig) so I was thinking of having a go at some newer titles out there to see how it fares out.
As far as I know the greatest resource-hog out there is still Crysis. Anyone have any other suggestions?
If there's a trial or something for the game, that'd be sweet as well, otherwise I'd have to see which of my friends can lend it to me (if they have it...)
Thaaaanks :)
The BFBC2 beta is pretty demanding in some cases as well.

Call of Juarez patched up to DX10 with all settings maxed is pretty heavy too.
I doubt an 8600M GT will run Crysis, STALKER:CS or CoJ very well though.

Like others say, Clear sky with added anti-aliasing, also the older shadow of chernobyl when AA is forced. Crysis with anti-alising. Colin mcrae Dirt 1, very unoptimized and demanding. PT: boats, very demanding game. Then we have GTA4 ofcourse, especially demanding for the CPU. Other demanding games are Armed assault, Flight sim x and DCS black shark. Crank up the levels for these games and watch your framerate die :p
Thanks for the input guys. I know my laptop is a pretty basic little feller, but I want to see if itīs worthwhile keeping around for some casual PC gaming (I have an X360 to supply my addiction), or if should sell it and get something a bit smaller/lighter.
So far I've played Crysis and STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, and in both cases my lappy held it's own with grace... obviously we're talking about medium-low settings here, but I don't need uber graphics... not anymore at least.

Out of all the games I own, Cryostasis gives me the most problems (I own both Crysis, STALKERs). Might be the Physx, not sure.
Hm, an 8600M GT.
I'd think Lost Planet (try the demo out) and Far Cry 2 would try to put a hurtin' on that GPU.

Crysis
GTA4
Call of Juarez DX10
STALKER Clear Sky maxed DX10
That's about it really, everything else I can max and not break a sweat.
Guys remember the GPU he's using... IIRC it's below low-end 8800 and HD3850 performance. Maybe around 7950 territory?
... although what's nice is that the laptop runs at a small yet decent 720p enhanced resolution... I remember my 7800GS definitely choking on newer games @ that rez, but the HD3850 made pretty much everything do-able, even Crysis.

Haha, why are you then asking for the most demanding games? makes no sense if youre gonna play on low hahahahahaha.

An 8600M GT should be similar to a 7600GT but probably closer to 7900GT performance in newer games due to the unified shaders.
Its not bad for a laptop GPU, but I wouldn't push it too much.
