I can get some monitors for a good price (long story but its all legal) but will they be any use to me as I don't have any top grade audio equipment to plug them into.

Will I even be able to plug them into anything??

They are powered, so you can feed this thing with line level signal (Audio out). You will need a simple converter for that 1/4 in (Phone jack) connector on the HS80. The other option is XLR connectors, but you would normally need a high end pre-amp. Those are studio/musician speakers, not well suited for a HT setup, but still usable. Obviously you would have to buy at least 3 HS80m, as the center channel must match the left and right channel.

(The story involves lesbians btw)

They'll sound much better than any everyday speaker. You really should think about getting a decent sound card for you pc though if you don't plan on using them with a receiver/pre-amp.

I can only get 2 of them ,getting a third is out of the question.

As they have their own amps what kind of box would I need to connect them to if I want to pair them with a passive sub or middle speaker (of a cheaper variety)?
