im damn sure its not ran this hot before, but within half hour of playing ME3 and STALKER COP my card gets to 100 - 107 degrees with the fan running at full speed (on auto)

i vacuumed it last night there was hardly any dust so didnt make any difference

W T F ?

Edit: my ambient internal case temp is 32-35 degrees

Might try re-seating it, maybe reinstall drivers...

hmm re-did the drivers for the recent beta's 196.34, and took the card out last night for a clean last night, no change

Not sure... try some other games and see if it is also getting warmer than usual. STALKER is one of the more demanding games out there, especially with all the eye candy maxed out, might just be working the card hard.

Still, that's DAMN hot! :scarey: I can't believe it's not crashing

NVidia do tend to blather the GPU's with paste so a clean and some new paste should help a bit. Are both cores reporting similar temps?

Also, when you say you vacuumed it out, did you have a look past the fan to see if it got it all out. With mine I can vac all day but I can't get the bit's blocking the fins out. I had to strip the cooler off (which is a fiddly job) and clean it properly and I saw a good 15*C temp drop. Just be careful not to damage or lose the thermal pads from the memory chips. AS5 worked fine for me on the GPU.

both cores report different temps, idle they are=

GPU1- 53
GPU2- 49

Load-

GPU1- 100-107
GPU2- 90-100

Yeah there must still be some crap in the cooler. The temps don't look that different, but are both very high. I assume you have plenty of air flow through the case..

my i7 temp on idel atm is 25 degrees

case temp is 30-35 and has lots of fans

What are you using to check the temps? Does the air coming out of the back of the card feel so hot?

using evga precision that displays the temps on my logitech G13

the air atm on idle feels slightly warm

i have ordered some Arctic Cooling MX-3 and will try that on the weekend, but am nervous about my twin PCB card with the sli ribbon in the middle have heard its fiddly, i have changed the paste a 8800gt before

I would try checking the temps with another bit of software. I use RealTemp 3.4 for CPU & GPU. Sounds like it's not actually hot if the air doesn't feel that warm. At 100*C I'd expect it to be damn warm. Does if feel like there's a good blast of air coming out?

well, its 100+ when at load

just reinstalling drivers etc now from scratch after a driver sweep to see if its the drivers

I had my 295 exhibiting this type of behaviour. Alls I did was get compressed air and blast them pesky dust buildups out and the temps went back to under 90 under load. :)

im telling you guys this card runs HOT, everytime i play a game my office got really hot, after i replaced it with a 5870, its nice and cool in here :), my wife was getting pissed at the electric bill to, FPL went from $210 to $160, i would be trading them up guys and spare some power in the house lol and even feel nice and cool when your pissed at players

Default thermal-grease must be getting old or just crap to begin with i replaced it with some MX3 a while ago , temps are much better stays under 90c while playing stalker pripyat. And off course good case ventilation is important also. To my surprise dismantling sandwiched 295 is not so hard actually .

re did my drivers again last night from scratch using the latest non betas and temps arent as high now, max 92-94 last night playing stalker cop, core 1 and 2 are still about 5 degrees different, so i think ill go for it on the weekend and change the thermal paste

Good idea. That just seems too hot. Mu Quads don't usually get over 75....and that is with fans set at 70-80%

should of updated this.

i redid everything, my cabling, H50 push pull direction, paste applique on the cooler. I did put MX3 paste on the GTX295 too before all that

anyway everything seems a lot cooler.

GTX temps get maximum to 80-90 now on full load with STALKER COP and 70-80 with many other games like BF BC2 BETA and AVP 2010

I have noticed since I went to the 5870, my office is WAY cooler now.

Hey mate, I find STALKER COP pushes my temps as well (in DX10, 3 x 280), it's about the only game that does but I often see high 80's/low 90's when I've been playing for a while.

Glad you got it sorted :)

Stalker COP was causing my PC to shut down. I gave my 295 a good clean out and it fixed the problem. temps were going over 100.

it was stalker and the drivers

all got sorted ages ago now

i had also re-applied arctic paste to my 295 too and redid the case cooling

my comp has never been tidyer or cooler

Ive been having these issues as well with my card (XFX 295) running at about 105-110c and then the graphics driver resets. ive got good airflow through my system with 6 fans sucking and blowing in the right direction. Ive tried blowing as much dust out of the card but after reading around i decided my best option was to strip the card down to put new thermal paste on the cores. Unfortunately the thermal pads on the ram chips got damaged when seperated from the heatsink. Does anyone know where i can get new pads or if the screws will compress the card to the heatsink enough for thermal paste (Arctic MX-3) to make contact?

Am getting quite worried that i may have broken my GFX card :S
