Yeah. I would hate that also. I think I will give my money I saved to the government. Our govenment is so fat it ain't funny. I wish we could have a tax revolution in this country. I know 1stFlight would be with me. I'm serious. I hate our tax system.
If we had the flat tax or fair tax imagine how easier it would be. No more tax shelters. No more capital gains. All of them would be gone. Just one flat fee at the end of the year.
I know how we could start a tax revolution. It would be easy. All we have to do it get congress to pass a bill stating that yearly federal taxes will be paid at the second week of november. Yep that's right, just before elections. People would vote for tax reform in a jiffy. :p
Yeah we landed at Plymouth Rock then they charged us a moorage tax and a landing tax and a water way tax and a water treatment tax and a.......

Why so glum digitalwanderer? This is money that your family earned. Don't you believe that you can do more with your money than big government can?

I just liked it better when my taxes were being spent better, I'd rather pay a bit more and have the economy improving rather than get a bit more and watch our economy going down the crapper. :(
yipee.... our interest payments on our national debt will only climb to around 450 billion in a couple of years due to budget deficits and our overall deficit could well be around the 4.5 trillion dollar mark soon... (would be closer to 7.1 billion dollars were it not for the use of social security surplus to help out)
and the overall cost of the tax bill to the us economy is likely to be in the $700billion to $1 trillion range... :)
excellent.. quite peachy... I shall now take the bigger paychecks and rejoice as we sink deeper into long term gloom... because... in the short term... we are all happy... joy joy...
:D
btw.. numbers are from goldman sachs... :)

It isn't cutting taxes that makes the deficit and ya' know it. It is over spending....and ya' know it. :p ;) The problem I have with Bush and it is a big one is his approval of all this big goverment spending poop. This is the bottoms line. Even in high taxes or low taxes the government cannot spend beyond it's in take. ya'll know this. So don't blame it on tax cuts. This is just Democratic spin.

Government having more money does not mean economic recovery. As it is government wastes so much and is involved in some things it shouldn't be.
Please point out when our taxes were better spent. http://home.earthlink.net/~sbp777/smilies/confused7.gif
The economy is not great, but its not going down the crapper.
You don't believe in raising taxes during slow times?
Hey amigo, if it really stresses you out keeping more of your own money, just say no. :p
Or just find some worthy organizations to donate to.
You can take your money and spend it, invest it and save for your childrens future. Is that so wrong?

Not true, Padre...not true!! Flat tax schemes are hardly fair! :p

You are saying a flat tax at 13% is unfair? I know nothing about Dick Armey's flat tax plan. The flat tax that is most accepted only taxes income. Besides where did you get that info. Also would you like to keep the same system and tinker with back and forth between parties?

eh goldman sachs hardly has democratic leaning m8... :)
pick on them... I am presenting data that THEY have put forth and can be read quite easily in a number of publications currently in circulation...
spin THAT how you may... :) but it is definitely NOT democratic spin... though I am sure you would love for it to be :)
recall that I have maintained for the longest time that bush's plans are not positive... while others have screamed @ the top of their lungs that it is indeed the way to go...
there are many hidden costs and measures used to cover the true costs of the implementation of the policies the administration has taken that may not be felt NOW since everybody is giddy on their $400 checks and whatnot.. but will certainly be felt in a few years time as the true economic impact of the policies come forth...
I do not want to be in a position to have to say I told you so @ the time mainly because I will be hurting along with many other americans...
No no I wasn't saying the numbers were spin. I was just whent off on a tangent about Democratic spin. :p Ya misunderstood me.
It is not the tax cuts that hurt. It is the spending. :banghead: Republicans are spending like Democrats to take away Dem's issues. I hate it. Why vote Republican when you get a Dem at the voting switch?
SPENDING SPENDING SPENDING SPENDING. No one wants to address all the services, agencies, government workers (who are unionized  ). All Dems want to do is attack tax cuts. Tax cuts would never be a problem if spending was under control. I am about to pop my top on this. We give so much money away it ain't funny. I'm out of work, gimme! I broke my leg, gimme! I'm a protected rodent in the Arizona desert, gimme!
AHHHH every one has their hands out and I keep working my butt off for their free money! It ain't free! I am paying for this pooo and I can't stand it!

I understood you quite clearly m8...
you introduce every counter argument saying that it is democratic spin udawg...
So don't blame it on tax cuts. This is just Democratic spin.
adminstration estimate to cost of tax bill == $350 billion...
goldman sachs estimate factoring in the fact that some of the actual costs are HIDDEN in other areas... == $700billion to $1 trillion...
that is the actual COST of implementing the tax cuts... :)
thats a lot of money.. and certainly helps add to the huge budget deficit we already have...
yup... we are all paying for this poo.. and in the meantime we get less for our money and more civil liberties are taken away on a weekly basis.. :(
bleh... welcome to big brother... all politicans are as bad as each other...

I hear ya there.
CAN'T STAND BUSH ON DOMESTIC ISSUES. THE FRIGGIN SPENDING AHHHHHH!!!
I only like him on defense issues.
The new Medicare drug entitlement Congress is proposing will supposely cost $400 billion over the next 10 years. Anyone here really believe it will be that?
http://www.sltrib.com/2003/Jul/07062003/commenta/72649.asp
"Taxpayers have been misled before. Stephen Dinan reports in The Washington Times that when Congress created the Medicare program the projected cost in 1990 was $9 billion. The true cost in 1990 was $67 billion, 7.4 times higher."
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/brucebartlett/bb20030703.shtml
"When Bush refuses to expand the program to their liking, Democrats will be more than happy to say they will. And should Republicans ever suggest anything in the future to restrain the inevitable growth of the prescription drug program, Democrats will predictably attack them for slashing it and killing untold numbers of seniors by denying them lifesaving drugs. These attacks will work, leaving Republicans as the bad guys once again, even though no prescription drug plan would exist without Republican support."

The economy is not great, but its not going down the crapper.
I think when Clinton was paying of the national debt rather than just increasing it like a drunk on a binge we were a bit better off.
No the economy is NOT great, I guess "going down the crapper" is a little strong for how we're doing right now...but if we don't get our national debt under control our economy WILL go down the crapper. :(
I'm not gonna bitch anymore about it, I just ordered me Barton & memory last night.

Clinton wasn't paying off the national debt. He can't he can only sigh spending bills. It was the Republican congress that passed balanced budges and lower spending. Newt came in with lower spending in mind and you see how the Dems go nuclear when a Republican does that.
You guys love to talk about how the Republicans hounded a liar like Clinton yet you never talk about the daily assaults on Newt and he never did anything wrong. Sure he was a jerk with his wife and I have no respect for the guy personally but he had the balls to step down when he was hurting the party. Clinton never did. So don't act like your poo don't stink.

I can't imagine a better way to reinvigorate the economy other then letting people spend their own money on the things they want and or need. $20 per weekly paycheck is very substantial particularly if you consider that there will be millions of people that will have that extra $20 to spend. $20 a week adds up to well over $1000 a year, that is a new PC, television or a down payment on a car a couple of mortgage payments etc. It really is a significant boost if you think about it.
Consider also that the expanding economy as a result of this new found cash in citizens pocket will increase the tax paying base by creating new jobs.
People whom think it is petty should consider this position. Visualize Bush didn't lower taxes but increased them ever so slightly so that instead of getting that extra $20 a week you were actually paying another $5 a week in taxes. Then the following year another small increase on and on. The weekly increase in tax would be trivial on a yearly bases but if you consider the increase over all you find yourself paying roughly 50% +... All the while you are not getting much in return but some vague government services that you may or may not utilize. The gradual increases in taxation slowly rob you of your income. All the while you slowly find yourself with less and less money in your own pocket.

We don't dare go with the Dems cause they are in favor of even more largess. http://sbp777.homestead.com/files/ugone2far.gif

the amount of money given is not proportional..
the rich get back huge sums of money whilethe middle class gets back what? $300-400 or something like that... depending on the family setup ?
given the fact the economy is not growing and that there is rising unemployment... do you not think people would rather SAVE than spend ? @ this time?
cutting taxes @ a time such as this in the manner it has been done... not quite a good thing... IMO...
