Kobe (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,91184,00.html) turns him self in.

I stopped watching the NBA in the mid 90's. There are no real stars in that league any more. Just a bunch of punks and gansta wanna-be's. They have a high school mentality. One gets a tatoo then they all get one. One chokes a choach then they start choking coaches. Bahhh! forget them.

Well, you got a point here somewhere.
I think taking a guy out of high school and getting him to play for your team kinda messes you up too. I think most sports were better in the old days when it was the competition and the fun of sports. Now it's all about the $$$$$

It always has benn about the money. I just don't like the punk attitude the NBA has now. Like I said there arn't any big stars. No body that grabs the attention of the nation. No big rivalries. We had Kareem, Magic, Bird, Benard, Dr. J, Nique, Isaiah and Jordan and a whole host of others who just kicked the crap out of these guys as far a ability and likeability. We had great rivalries Lakers vs. Celtics, Lakers vs. Detroit. Ohhhhh!! and we had George Gervin The Ice Man. Ahhh I still can see his poster hanging on my bedroom wall. THE ICEMAN COMETH He was sitting on a throne of ice. We had the chocolate girilla thunder dunk Moses Malone. We had the Convers Weapon. I still remember the comercial.

The Convers Weapon that's the shoe, they let Magic do what he was born to do. Maybe so but that's not all they let Isaiah play like he's ten feet tall. What can the Weapons do for King? I can do just about any thing. For the kind of shoes that never fail the Weapons the choice for Keven McHale. Ya'll ready know what they do for me. WHAT!? I walked away with the MVP.

We even had Curtis Blow with the basketball rap.

Basketball is my favorite sport I like to watch them dribble up and down the court. I am the king of the microphone just like Dr. J and Moses Malone.

Well, I don't know about other sports, but I watch football (soccer for all you US boys out there). From what I can see, these days it is more about the money. Players going to clubs they said they would never play for and etc. If you look at the quality of the game in the past, it was much more interesting to watch those games back then.
Now a player doesn't even want to step out onto the pitch if you don't give him what he wants

way to jump on him :)

guilty before any trial already ?

given kobe's track record and the way he handles himself.. it is going to be interesting to see how this turns out...

note he has not gone out of the way or done anything other than cooperate and done everything by the book...

he has been a model citizen thus far.. even if he is a bit of a punk on the court on occasion...

perhaps it would be appropriate to hear the rest of the story before jumping to conclusions and handing out sentences already...

I never said one thing about Kobe. I commented on the League. Besides we are not in a court of law. We can come to any idiotic conclusion we want.

Actually, there's a good chance he's completely innocent. Somebody tried something like this a couple of years ago with Jerome Bettis, the runningback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The problem was that Bettis is one of the best-behaved guys in football, and it came out that the girl made the entire thing up as a way to get money.

Entirely possible we're seeing the same thing here.

Your right. It could be a money scam on the woman's part. She could just be a one night stand and got all jaded about it and threw this at him.

I got a little off topic when I was making a comment about UDawgs statement that there are no more stars in the league. But I did not say anything about Kobe himself.
Personally I don't think we can judge players when they step off the court. I don't think any of us really know all that much about Kobe and what he does in his private time.
Everyone has their own opinion. Players in the NBA live a totally different lifestyle. I don't know how much in changed from the past, but you know how many women the players slept with every chance they got in the past? Just look at Wilt Chamberlain and the thousands of women he slept with. :)

that was my implication..

I have followed the nba for a long time and obviously have followed kobe as well... and nothing he has done over the years implies this sort of behavior.. considering he is also in rehab or whatever for his shoulder... makes it a little more doubtful...

like I said... we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out...

This whole episode distresses me quite a bit. Of all the young talent in the NBA, he seemed to be the class act of them all.

umm.. but I thought they linked him to the crime through physical evidence and stuff tho?

If he was innocent he would have turned himself in right off the bat and done everything to get this episode behind him quickly instead of takin' his time. meh, I don't even know what I'm talking about:D
