Silent Hill 2 bugs in FX cards

Silent Hill 2 is unplayable on FX cards. As you can see, the text is totally missing from the screenshots below. This was tested with 44.03 and 44.65.

The game is a TWIMTBP game, but I don't think it's suppose to be played like this.....
The funny thing is, cards from the older GF range with the 2 drivers above render the text just fine.....

What fx card do you have? As I own a fx5600, and Silent Hill 2 doesn't have any problems at all... i'm using the 44.65 drivers also.

It's a FX5200. This is on a clean install of WinXP, 44.65 and DX9.0a.

Since SH2 is my favorite action/horror game, I immediately installed SH2 to see if it would run fine on my 5900 Ultra. I played till reaching the town but I did not encounter any problem with 44.65 driver.

Those graphicglitches must be a problem with your system.

SH3 can't come to soon. October is already marked in my calender ;)

So 5900 and 5600 users don't have problems with SH2?

Any other 5200 users that play SH2 here? How's your experience with SH2 and FX5200?

Well, the 44.67 drivers has fixed the text bugs, but movies still don't play right. You get a blank screen instead.

well about 1 month ago i bought a ASUS FX5200 but then got rid of it, but with my expericences with it, silent hill 2 worked fine, in fact i finished it with it :)
