Well I decided to sell my 285 GTX and get a 5850. I thought it was a good time to sell the 285 as I got £180 for it and got my 5850 for £209. Its a Power Color version of the card (sorry about the photos using my mobile phone atm as my wife has the camera at work)

It has a non standard cooler, which I kinda like.

It fits well into my case but I had to remove the drive cage next to it as the power sockets are on the end of the card and it was a bit tight otherwise.

Preform ace wise I have not done any hard testing but it seems at least as fast if not a bit faster than the 285 was. But I have noticed that CPU temps have dripped a few degrees, which suggests that the 285 cooler was over spilling a lot into the case IMO. Also I have noticed a drop in power usage when at full load of about 30 watts which is nice extra.

It also came with a copy of Dirt 2, have not had the chance to install it but it retails for about £20. So if you take that off the price of the card. I didn't have to pay anything for the 5850.

I have to wait till the weekend to give it a good test and I will also over clock it after a few days to make sure its OK.

Good choice less heat, DX11, less power consumption than a GTX285, and you didn't have to spend a whole lot more for better or similar performance good move.

I looked at everything when building my system last month....and the 5850 struck me as by far the best deal, and provides kickass framerates @ 1080p resolutions most of the time with liberal use of AA.

Nice looking card, enjoy!

Awesome card, I wanted a 5850 originally but when I did my build Newegg was sold out of them.

How much is £209 in US Dollars?
