Hello,

I currently have a Dell 2407 WFP, had it since 2006, and I am currently working on a new computer and I'm thinking of getting a new monitor.

I want something superior to the 2407, and maybe bigger... I was thinking of a Dell 3008 WFP, but I'm not sure... Also any idea about the Dell 2707? I'm not sure If get a 30 inch or 27... 30 might be too big...

Anyways what other monitors that are better do you guys recommend? Doesn't matter if they are 24 inch, I just want opinions!

Thank you!

Oh and between a 2407 and a 2807 what is better?

Thank you :).

Hmmm I read that some of the Dell monitors have bad input lag? And that two of the best monitors are the 2407 and the 3007? Also I see the NEC2690WUXi?

Can anyone help me decide? I want for pure gaming.

Since you're used to the 2407WFP, which is a PVA panel, you shouldn't worry about input lag on the newer IPS screens. PVA panels actually have the most input lag.

The U2410 is supposed to be an exceptional monitor. The U2711 and any Dell 30" screens also use IPS panels.

You can't really go wrong with any of those if you've got the money. Just remember that a larger monitor will have a much higher resolution and you'll need a huge amount of GPU power to run games at 2560x1600 or 2560x1440. An 8800 will not be fast enough for most recent games.

I see, the lag thing was what had me worried... Well I don't know if I want a 30 inch, that's the thing... Not only because of the GPU usage but also it just sounds too big.

I was just looking at the NEC LCD2690WUXi2-BK monitor, any idea how that one is? I'm thinking of trying for a 26-28 inch monitor, so far only have the NEC and the 2709 Dell... Any thoughts?

I'm not all that familiar with screens like these because they're so far out of my price range, but the U2711 is definitely a nice screen:

I'd just look at some reviews to see which ones perform the best in the areas you're most concerned about.

EDIT: Also, here is a list of popular IPS monitors:

I think there may be some others that aren't listed, but pretty much anything that'd be worth buying for you should be on that list.

Oh I'm looking at the U2711 and 27" sounds perfect. Is the U2711 better than the 2709WFP? I don't know much about monitors, I just want a superior monitor or the best if possible bigger than mine (26-27" sounds good) for gaming.
