Any one knows the radeon 9800 clockspeed? is it a better buy than a radeon 9700 pro? I've seen them for about 300 bucks or lower.

Yeah, what he said. From what I've been hearing the 9800 non-Pros are pretty much the "9700 Pro rev.2".

I'm thinking they're going to drop in price to about $250 pretty quick and become ATi's best-selling mid-range card. :)

You speak wisdom.

The big "IF"s right now for that scenerio though are:

1. Will nVidia get a value 5900 card out soon?

2. Will people be willing to pay $250 for a midrange card?

I know #2 might sound stupid, but I know of people who might go for a $200 card but would never consider a $250 card. (I know that sounds a bit daft, but it is true.)

I'd really like to see it get a bit cheaper still.

Thats why the radeon9600 pro and geforceFX5600 ultra exist.

The performance difference between the radeon9600pro and geforce FX 5600 ultra vs radeon9800/gffx 5900 is significant. Your 50 bucks will buy you more performance.

$250 would be closer to high end than midrange, especially considering a 9800 non pro is just a few MHz away from ati's flagship card, it is high end. Midrange would be like a ti4200, radeon9500 or fx5600 :)
