Ok i'm pissed. Pricewatch.com listed a 9600 Radeon in a list of all Pros. Everyone in this list was a pro except for the one I bought. Now I dont think pricewatch.com will do anything and I dont think the dealer will swap it out.
How screwed am I getting a 9600 Radeon isntead of the 9600 Radeon Pro?

it's not PW's fault, they're just a google-like search engine where companies post their wares. The company can trick PW to have funny things come up, which is probably what they did.

Depending on the store, if you tell them straight up that you got a reg and thought you ordered a pro, they say ok, and don't charge you a restocking fee cuz you are buying something else.

But like I said, it depends on the store, but PW has nothing to do with it...it's the store's fault or you were just too exited to read carefully b4 you hit 'BUY'

First of all, i dont trust any company that lists with pricewatch, they are a breeding ground for crap companys.

But your gonnna have to talk to who you bought the card from. Id look for a phone number, but dont try to be mean to them, just say its a simple mistake, and you want your money back.

I am sure they will try to offer you an exchange, but if the company already tricked you into buying a non pro and listed it as a pro, i can almost gaurentee that they will try to 'screw' you over again.

thanks
Is a 9600 Radeon that much different from a pro? Should i just shut my trap and take the 9600. Id rather start playing Planetside and Morrowind if its not a big difference.

no, trust me, u want the pro. i think the non pro has 4ns ram, effectively crippling it. but the core is still good....i think even with the passive heatsink, u can oc it to near pro speeds. but the 9600 pro will oc like a mofo, cause it has faster ram and active cooling. my advice would be to get the pro.

well the order comes next wednesday... most likely i'll have to ship it back which will take about another week... then after that hopfully they would ship one out in another week. That's around a whole month when I want to start playing now. I currently have a rage 128 ultra which blows. I only payed $127 and most likely the pro is a little more money there. Now what should I do?

one more thing.. keep in mind im running a pent 3 and celeron 1.1 GHZ and im not planning on upgrading any time in the future. So with what I have is the Radeon 9600 appropriate?

Yes a 9600Pro or 9600 is apropriate for your system. I would just recomend that you not 'try' to upgrade anything else untill you buy a new system.

BTW, if you dont open the box, they SHOULD have to take it back no matter what. Id call them up now and have a talk with them.

Where do you shop then? All of the bigger, non-pricewatch sites ive seen, like Buy.com, Tigerdirect, all charge WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over what www.newegg.com or www.excaliberpc.com charge. If you are so afraid of crap companies, you really should start using www.resellerratings.com , that place will save you a fortune.

I use reseller rateings to find stores. Though some that i shop at do use pricewatch, if their website looks like crap and you can tell they do not know what they are selling, then you dont know what you are buying.

You should only be angry w/ yourself.

C'mon, how did you NOT notice the product you decided to buy WAS NOT what you wanted? Pricewatch is just a search engine, they don't sell anything. You clicked and were directed to an actual retailer, who no doubt had the product spec's listed on the page.

You then had to click "Buy" on it and see the description AGAIN when asked check out or continue shopping, and then had to click OK again to confirm the transaction.....

I'm sorry for you, but you shouldn't get mad at pricewatch or the store you bought it from. You bear responsibility as well.....

I also sounds like you posted before even contacting the vendor you bought it from. What's so hard about telling them you chose the wrong item???? Give them a chance to correct your mistake before acting as though you have somehow been "screwed over"

First of all pricewatch is not a search engine- yes at first they might be- but it's their responsibility to check their postings and have them under the right catergories. I TRUSTED the fact that they were ALL PROS yes a little stupid- but i have never used the OTHER companies- I felt it was a mistype.
But to say Having a 9600 in a catergory of all 9600 PROs is NOT misleading? You need to go get a checkup

:-l

uh, be nice, plz.

I've been in that situation before... ordered what i thought was a 5200U and got a 5200 64bit memory bus...

pricewatch showed ultra.
computergate said ultra.
gainward even told me they were ultras...

But waht i got an what i paid for was 2 different things...

Oh well. It can be expected in todays crowded video card marketplace. I was mad, I vented, and I got over it.

Bman, I feel yr pain.

Nobody needs to *down* you for what happened. Yer mad, you'll vent, and you'll get over it...

:)
