alright this forum has been the most and least helpful to me. On one hand I get many responces, but on the other hand, half of them are from guys with sick azz systems giving me advice to get top of the line gear. Look into the eyes of a kid with a Rage 128 Ultra and PLEASE tell me if a Radeon 9600 on a pent 3 celeron 1 GHZ is gonna be good FOR ME.
I ordered a 9600 Pro and they sent me a 9600 and I REALLY dont want to go through the hassle of returning it.
So please please please someone who isn't INSANE about gaming:
for ME is the 9600 Pro SOOOO much better FOR ME to try and send it back and wait a month to start playing my games
or can I accept the 9600 with loving care and a kid LIKE ME won't tell the difference

p.s. I dont plan on upgrading my system in the near future. This card IS my small upgrade.

The Pro IS so much better, honest. Return it and get the other one, it will be well worth the wait. :)

Is it just me or was I looking at the same post in General Hardware?
I know I just woke up, so.......

No, it's not just you.

Well kid, you should get what you paid for. Where did you buy this from anyway so we can all stay away? So send it back. I'd be excited if I were you, any poor sap that has had to deal with a Rage 128 this long has suffered enough. And by the way, which one are you on? A Pentium III or a Celeron? They're not the same.

Rejoice! For soon you'll be able to play more than just your Counter-Strike. :D

There is one time when they are, when it's a Tulatin Celeron.

I've always felt the Tuly wasn't really quite a celeron anymore than it was really a PIII, but it had a lot of both in it and just flat-out roxored! (Yeah, I can take the 1.4@1.75 Tuly out of me PC...but it'll take a while before I lose any of me respect for that chip. A really sweet little bargain. :) )

I stand corrected! Still, the name on the box when you buy it is different. :D

Maybe the performance difference between both cards is not huge, and maybe with your Celeron 1 GHz you won't be having noticeable differences, BUT I think the most important thing is this: you paid for something and you got another thing, that's simple, and you should complain for that. Of course, if the error would have been the opposite, no one would complain! ;)
If you lived so far with a Rage, why not live a little longer just to have the card you paid for? It will live longer also. :)
BTW, did you know the Radeon 9500 is faster than the 9600? :(

IS a regular radeon 9500 better than aradeon 9600 pro?
The thing is pricewatch.com was misleading when they put this single radeon 9600 in a list of all 9600 pros. My process was this : click graphics cards: click radeon 9600 pro: I see allstarshop.com and I feel it is the safest b/c of what friends have said. I think OHH it has to be a mistype b/c all the other ones are pros and I dont want to take the chance of buying from a shady site. So i did it.
