A port on Nvidia's Twitter page states, "ARE YOU READY? Check back here on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. PST for a major announcement!" Unless it's something totally out of left field, this is likely the official announcement of Nvidia's first DirectX 11 graphics card. It's been known by its code name "Fermi" and also by GF100. Last January, the company revealed some technical details behind the chip but kept back word on a launch date, clock speeds and the most important one: the price tag. Will the wait be worth it and what will AMD do, if anything, to keep their momentum going? Stay tuned.

I'll throw out a guess that this is one of those pre launch limited previews along the lines of 4870x2 previews where a handful of sites will be allowed to test a maximum of 4 apps.

Only reason this announcement will mean anything is if reliable benchmarks accompany it.

Otherwise I don't care - we've known for some time that NV had Fermi in the works.

Whoop-Dee-fricken-doo.

I want comparisons to 5xxx.

^ Exactly, with the 5000 series out who really cares anyway. They are too late to the party. I suspect too hot and too expensive.

Well it's possible the announcement isn't even Fermi related... we've assumed things like that in the past and it's turned out wrong.

But yeh if it is Fermi I doubt it will be anything very significant.

I've heard, they are going to only announce the release date, so don't get your hopes up for some kind of a preview.

I hope that dumb "GeForce PC Kit" wasn't the "major announcement" :retard:

If the $699 price point is correct for a single card and not the dual card solution then Nvidia will be hurting this year in sales.

At 699 the card is going to have to offer at least 50% better performance than the highest ATI offering in order to be the least bit competitive.
