gotta let it go some time. imo it's unreasonable to expect developers to support 3 different graphics APIs.

I fully support this.

I really hope more developers, not just with games, do this as well. The more time goes on with XP still remaining popular- the more I loathe that OS.

hey, even I'm saying let XP go. Since Windows 7 arrival there is no longer a need for Windows XP. Although, its a catch 22. DirectX 10 hasn't really been a cherry experience, most games runs slower, have a strange stutter / input lag to them and don't really provide an overwhelming difference over DX9.

There was a minor uproar about this on the Steam forums, which I found amusing. XP is damn old now, time to upgrade folks.

Those are some hefty requirements, regardless of OS - if this is the hardware it takes to run this game, then I'll pass. If this is what the game looks like, I'm not sure why. The only time the graphics look sharp/detailed is when there isn't much going on.

This game will finally be the show piece for DX10. Hurray!! Not.

DX10 has mostly been a flop, have no reason to believe why this will be any different. Should be DX9 or DX11, screw this underachieved middleware.

Is Dx11 all that different from dx10? Is it just dx10 with tesselation and a few other little things? forgive my ignorance.

A dual-core and 8800 are pretty ancient now, and the screen you posted is probably the worst JC2 shot ever. Also I am sure a large amount of the heft is for physics and such, not just textures.

The second game looks like a huge improvement over the first anyways... I might actually buy this once it comes out... not completely sold yet, though.

It has several good additions even before you go to the shader model 5 and what it brings to the table.
Including stuff like multi processor support and ability to have different paths for shader model 3, 4 and 5.

Meaning the JC2 could have been just a DX11 game with support to GPUs from 6800 to GTX4xx series.
No need to do highly different code for DX9 and slightly different one for dx10 and dx11.

When you get to shader model 5 and compute shaders there are very nice additions as well.

that looks god awful..

and smells more like M$ to push for vista/w7, just like what they do with the xbox360 only games.

Serious?

You never tried running crysis Very High on an 8800? I'm running it with dual 8800GTXs- all in-game options @ Very High with SLi 8xAA- plays mostly smooth. And Very High *is* DX10. :)

I hope all developers start doing this...Windows XP and DX9 is old, its about time more effort was put into DX10 and now DX11.

Same here. I never finished it, but it was 20 hours of balls-to-the-wall fun for me, just insane stuff and a great time. The skydiving was amazing graphically as well.
