Stalker looks quite good in some ways, but I agree that Half-life 2 has me much more excited.

meh, Environment looks good, but they need to spend a lot more time on character animations, and the characters themselves. Gameplay looks stiff...

yes i agree... the animations still need alot of tweaking..

I also agree, too stiff..

But the visuals at some points look beyond Doom 3's

The animations are pretty bad, but the texture detail is better looking than any game I've seen previewed. Just watch the part when the player is exploring the indoor area with his flashlight. Parts of it look almost real. (However, it's disappointing to see another video for this game that shows almost no gameplay).

I agree. The annimation is not as good as I would have thought. With the new games comin out (HL2 and Doom 3) this is the last one I am lookin forward too.

Well this one is on top of my list above Doom and the likes, bad animations never stopped MOH from being a great game ;) The textures and detail in this game just look amazing, add the fact that you can drive different vehicles. This game seems to be a great mix of RPG and FPS. You can buy, trade, steal, vehicles, weapons etc, all vehicles need fuel, so if you run out, you need to get some more somehow. To me STALKER just seems to be the most interesting game coming out, then add in MP , should be a blast playing online

ohhh.... :D

now thats impressive..the first screenshot looks life Hl2 but with higher quality textures and sweet looking Bumpmaps and lighning everywhere.. :)

i think the game use real time lights only in the interiors..
and yep.. characters looks cartoonish at times ,and their animations need more work. something tells me that this game is FAR from being released. in this year. :( i read some interview where developers say the physics in the engine will be like in Hl2.. dont remember where.

Assets used for the trailer demonstrate a pre-alpha build of the game and do not represent the final quality of the product

This is the messege at the end of the trailer, so......;)

doom 3 will be blast to play, but there is simply nothing new there and story?what story? (this doesn't mean i won't play it,just it isn't on my most wanted list)

That Stalker game does look good. The first time through the trailer I didn't even notice when they shifted from live-action to in-game. But animations are pretty stiff (as well as the human models) and the gameplay looked a little...off (the combat looked kinda odd). However, I like the idea of it, and it's nice to see a FPS where you can actually see your own shadow! Also, those specularity effects are very nice. Hopefully it will have a REAL shadow system no matter where you go, and not just indoors (I guess it would be always real if you can turn on the flashlight anywhere). But it looks pretty cool, so I might check it out when it's released. Not at the top of my list though.

Oh, and they said the physics will be similar to Half-life 2...are they using that Havok physics engine then?

Physics:
* Based on ODE engine
* Simulation speed outperforms commercial engines such as MathEngine, Havok, etc.
* Real-time IK, vehicle physics, etc.
* Collision database with low memory usage
* Collision detection optimized for a large number of queries in a high concentration polygonal environment
* Realistic simulation of ballistics, movement, and fluids

this quoted from the STALKER site, under the XRay engine details :)
