View Full Version : Please recommend a good case to house a watercooling setup

I'm seriously thinking about swapping the H50 for a custom water cooling setup. I'm thinking about a dual loop system when I upgrade the graphics cards, but for now it would just be cooling the CPU.

My problem is; my case. As much as I love the 832, it just doesn't have the room for a large rad, never mind two! So I'd like some case recommendations from you experienced WC guys :D

If/when I get Fermi's, I'll be getting 2 GTX480's, and using one of my current GTX260 as a PhysX card. I'll be looking to cool all 3 with water.

Any other advice would be very welcome in regards to dual loop systems. This would be my 1st 'proper' WC setup and although I know the basics, I'm not at all experienced with any problems or shortcomings that might arise.

TIA :)

EDIT: BTW, I'd prefer a case with a large side window, but not a cheap looking case. The CM HAF932 is a good case but I think it looks a bit cheapo. I might be wrong as I've not seen one in the flesh.

That's actually one of the ones I was trying to remember, but WOW it's pricey. I don't see how the price is justified TBH, but it's very much along the right lines. Cheers :).

Cheers Darth. I was thinking 150 ($200?) tops, but if I have to pay a bit more a could stretch the budget some more.

EDIT: Also, it'll have to be available in the UK. A ain't getting screwed with import tax again.

I have been heavily considering this case recently:

Yeah that is pretty badass, but not enough room :)

TBH the TJ07B-W V2 is the only one I've found with the layout I want. It's far more that I was wanting to spend but it looks like the perfect case for my needs.

EDIT: Although I'm still trying to find a UK supplier for the DD case :drooling:

Yeah, it's a pitty 'cause I like it, but I'd have to have an external rad, which I'd rather aviod if possible.

After watching a YT vid on the Corsair Obsidian 800D (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX87TPid_po) I've realised it'll do everything I want, and after looking around the price seems quite reasonable

Not 100% sure though. Cheers for your input, guys :). I think it'll be the 800D or the TJ09.

I'd wait for the Corsair D700 to hit the market. Less expensive, no hot-swap HDDs with the same quality and build as the D800.

still looking for Danger Den over there

Daymn that's cheaper than I thought :D. I'm gonna have to look in to this. Cheers :)

EDIT: That place is in Wakefield, too. That's about a 20min drive from here. I might have to go over this weekend. I really like the MM case!

EDIT2: I'm thinking Big Window sides, Half Window top, Duality front panel for two 360mm rads and a Triple Standard rear panel. Maybe smoked windows. This case is so.... configurable :D

Something along these lines...

EDIT3: It turns out that shop closed down over a year ago :(. Just spoke to the guy, who now only repairs PC's. He says delivery from the US is over 100 from MM.

Right then, I've reserved the 800D and I'll be picking it up tonight after work :D. The MM case was gonna be too expensive and hard to get. DD the same. Pity really 'cause they're both badass. Maybe some time in the future though when I've got some more cash. I'm gonna be shelling out on the WC stuff and the Fermi's and water blocks are gonna cost a bomb.

I'd wait for the Corsair D700 to hit the market. Less expensive, no hot-swap HDDs with the same quality and build as the D800.

Once I'm on a mission there's no waiting. I'm so impatient it's untrue :D

Case swapped and I'm up and running! Just want to point out a possible issue for anyone buying one of these.

Overall the case is superb, but I've found there aren't enough air intakes. By defualt it's got space for 3 fans at the top, which I've fitted, and the rear fan, plus the graphics cards, all extracting air. But only one 140mm fan blowing air in. Therefore the air flow isn't what it could be.

The way I've tried to get round this is to have the fan at the back sucking air in, too. But this means unfiltered air getting sucked in, and still only 2 intake fans and 3 out.

I've contacted Corsair about it, but it's gonna be Monday before I get a responce. I'll post their reply here.

Get a 4 1/2" inch holesaw, and drill a hole on the side of the case and put a 120 mm fan with a screen filter on it. You can dress it up with a lighted fan also, and a black mounted fan screen, get them here

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_463_92&products_id=2275 You can send in your side cover and have them do it if you wanted, but It's easy to do yourself except you have to get a 41/2 hole saw, like from menards with the arbor it mounts on, maybe twenty bucks for both, you will need a 1/2 inch drill. maybe borrowing one from somebody.
