I did it :) after owning a few GF's i went for raedon .. only just got the machine running last night and got the Cat 3.6 drivers on the unit :)
Upgraded my whole system..
from
1400 athlon
512mb 2100 ddr
40gb 5400 maxtor ..
dodgy dvd drive !
GF3..
To
3ghz P4 800 fsb
1gb 3200 crucial mem.
160gb Maxtor 8mb cache 7200 :)
128 9800 PRO Connect 3d.
Abit IS7
and new enermax 430watts PSU..
Tonight hopefully i will be able to see how mcuh of a performance increase i have got.

Just to add my hd seemed to format to 130 gb would you say thats a bout right ???

That doesn't sound right to me, yer pc doesn't need that much room to cache but you may wanna check w/ Maxtor just to be sure. Killer rig man, although I would of opted for a WD drive over the one you picked up, I've seen more of my friends & co-workers maxtor drives die in the last several months than I've ever seen in my life.

From my experience WD's are more reliable AND quieter than maxtor's and both are usually around the same price range.

I did opt for a ... WD drive but had to wait a week for it to get deleviered so changed it so the order would process ;)
System is running sweet :) downloading loads of stuff to stress it out :)
after about 130gigs windows has trouble recognizing larger drives. If you are using WinXP, make sure to download the latest service pack and all other updates. After that you will need to resize the partition (i recommend Partition Magic for this)
