Mass availability

It looks like Nvidia has pulled off yet another delay out of its sleeve, and this time we are talking about the availability date that has been pushed back from the original 6th of April to the week of April 12th.

We aren't sure if this delay is limited to certain markets, like Europe, or it will be a worldwide delay but we do know that it has nothing to do with the launch date of Fermi as this is the only Nvidia's estimate on when will partners be able to get the product on e-tail/retail shelves.

Nvidia recently changed the bios and the cooler and this might be some of the reasons behind the additional delay.

The date is week of April 12th as it also depends on how fast will partners be to ship the actual product to retail/e-tail as well, and some cards might show sooner. Of course, Nvidia's estimate is based on when it will ship a full batch to its Fermi cards to partners.

The launch date is pretty close and we'll have to wait and see if Nvidia will talk about mass availability schedule once it launches the card.

Geforce GTX 480 massive availability April 6th (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=149017)
Now it's April 12th.
I doubt even at April 12th there is going to be any "massive availability". As I said before most rumors predict otherwise.

I believe even somebody from NVIDIA predicted there is not going to be any massive availability till May, just forgot where I did read it.

I think anybody waiting for the cards should place the orders as soon as the cards are listed.

I am :(. I even sold one of my 260's, so I'm down to one now. I should have held on to it a bit longer.

it was Jen-Hsun Huang talking to investors. he said (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20100218124405_Fermi_Architecture_Will_Only_Hit_th e_Pull_Stride_Next_Quarter_CEO_of_Nvidia.html) "Q2 [of FY 2011] is going to be the quarter when Fermi is hitting the full stride. It will not just be one Fermi product, there will be a couple of Fermi products to span many different price ranges, but also the Fermi products will span GeForce Quadro and Tesla. So, we are going to be ramping now on Fermi architecture products through Q2 and we are building a lot of it."

I just want to see what the product has to offer. So not a long wait there.......I do not care, really, about the release of it. Just if I should wait more or go meh.

This is amusing. I wonder if the 8800 GTX went through this trend. I don't remember all the hype before it came out, i just bought it the week it came out Nov 2006 and it blew me away. yes, after a couple of years i had a problem with it (evga) then RMA'd it. It worked fine, bought another one off ebay (nvidia). Turns out the nvidia oem one is faster than the evga one with identical clock speeds.

I was expecting official reviews on March 26 right after the PAX East 2010, which would make sense if the March 26 is the NDA Expiration date.

SKYMTL the HardwareCanuck Review Editor posted this:
Stay tuned to HWC or your favorite online publication right after the NVIDIA PAX announcement and you won't be disappointed. Read more (http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/video-cards/30276-upcoming-nvidia-cards-hwc-announcement.html).
I just hope he was hinting about a Reviews Benchmarks and not NVIDIA Preview. Well we will find out soon.

PS
The HWC SKYMTL is a little bit NVIDIA enthusiast but he usually has very good reviews. The NVIDIA enthusiasm show more in his forum postings.

Thanks for reminding me, yes that's where I did read it. NVIDIA Q2 FY 2011 starts in May.
