View Full Version : wmpntwrk.exe is annoying

When I use media player, it does starts up, uses a lot of resources, like 2GB of RAM. I've found out the issue, but have no clue how to fix it from starting up and using my resources.
Anyone know a solution to this? I do not know what file it is causing the wmpnetwrk.exe to go nuts, or do I have away to find out that I know of. I just want it to stop starting up and using my resources.

That EXE is this:
Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service
If you want to stop that EXE from starting, disable this service.
It has no effect on WMP except for disabling the Player sharing over the network.

2GB of ram? :wtf: I just checked and mine uses 6MB and is running all the time wether Media Player is open or not.

Happens to me as well. In fact, I nearly did a re-format cause I'd fire up a game and it'd start chugging and lagging like crazy- alt+tab out and checked task manager and this service was running chewing up all my RAM. :(
Disabled the service and all is well now. :)
Go to Services in the Administrative Tools and disable it.
Or use VLC media player. Much better imo.
