It's nicely done and uses the fastest CPU on the market(i7 980x),and sees which card completes the loop first.....There's many more videos made in this style at trubritar's channel.

The extreme tesselation comparison is also nice....

I would be more interested in seeing a 2GB HD5870 vs GTX480 in the tesselation showdown (second link).

Cool videos though.

In the first one, Crysis, the 480 may "lose" but it has 3fps higher min frame rate with no AA and something around 5-6fps higher min with x8AA. Like Vin said, I'd like to see if a 2GB 5870 would bring the min frame rates up to at least on par.

I see no noticeable difference between those two cards running crysis. If you guys didn't see the results screens, no one would notice that the 5870 had a couple fps lower min.

Tesselation is the strongest point of Fermi's architecture no matter what,so i didn't expect the HD5870 to compete there, and it doesn't.....The numbers shows by Fermi can be done by an HD5970 card though, but that's a dual GPU card.

The question is,will be ever see that much tesselation used in shipping games within the next 2 years if not more, and i think it's fair to say,no way....

yea I see no reason to downgrade to a GTX 480 at this point. My HD5870 OCs well, runs very cool on water and uses alot less power. Sorry NV, ATI this time around.

Too bad he didn't follow his own advice ;) wouldn't be stressing over Bad Company 2 running so flaky.

Yeah it happens all the time people try to convince themsevles not to change something or upgrade, but they just have to try so, they give in, Thats why I have both ATI Rig and Nvidia rig, But I always like nvidia better in my heart.:D

Someone offered me my purchase price, $380, for my HD5870 6 months after I bought it. How could anyone refuse that? So I sold it for what I paid for it and bought the GTX 480. It was the opportunity to upgrade for just the difference.

Everbody knows the GTX480 is faster in tesselation then a HD5870 or they should by now.I do agree it is hard to give up a Brand you like and I have always like nvidia better even tho the HD5870 is a damm good card. You can't go wrong which ever card you buy.But I think the GTX 470 at $289 is a great deal and they overclock great ,and when you overclock a GTX 470 you get a lot bigger gain then you do when overclocking a HD 5870.I can run my HD5870 at 1000/1250 and there is not much difference in the performance then running it at stock.
