if my monitor can support max on
1024x768--->120hz
1280x960--->100hz
and i set the override to 120hz cuz my desktop is on 1024x768
but i do play some games on 1280x960
is that ok to leave the setting at 120hz?
does the monitor auto roll back too 100hz if i am playing the game at 1280x960?
Hey raysusan: Your monitor may be able to take that refresh rate, but then it may not. Seen people screw up the monitor that way.
"does the monitor auto roll back too 100hz if i am playing the game at 1280x960?" afaik, no.

The only way to be totally sure is to use something like Rage3D Tweak to set each refresh rate for the individual resolution you want. My LCD can support 85 Hz at certain resolutions, but I set all of them at 75 because the display looks much better for those times I'm not running its native 1280x1024.

ok i juz notice one more thing. my monitor run on 75hz automatically if i run at 1280x960 even if i override it at 120hz on ati CP
:)
ATI's refresh rate override works perfectly (in both opengl and D3D). Frankly I don't know why Nvidia still has not solved this yet.
Anyway, what I do is set it to 'set as desktop'. Then if I am going to play a game at a different res than my normal 1024x768@100hz desktop, I just set my desktop to the res (and refresh rate) I will be playing the game and then play the game. That's a foolproof way for me.
And the other comment posted was correct. If you set a res for a certain refresh rate, that's what the game will use no matter what res you are at. Be careful doing it that way. If you just choose a certain refresh rate and then forget and play the game at a higher res that doesn't support that refresh rate, you are going to be in trouble with a black screen. If that happens you will have to go into safe mode to change it back.

"Frankly I don't know why Nvidia still has not solved this yet." That could be said of other things also. :bleh:
