View Full Version : Potential Login Fix (If you can't login, TRY THIS)
I googled the issue and it seems to be a redirect issue with vbulletin. The thread I found is here:
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1154984
This problem occurs when you don't redirect hi5arena.com to www.hi5arena.com.
Your actual site is located at www.hi5arena.com but there are people who will not use the www. and simply enter the domain. When they enter their login details, it looks as if they are loggin in but they are redirected to the wrong domain so it kicks them back out again.
Option 1:
Do a 301 redirect from hi5arena.com to www.hi5arena.com.
Option 2:
AdminCP > vBulletin Options > General Options > Post Referrer Whitelist
Add hi5arena.com to the box and save.
So I tried logging in to http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin instead of http://nvnews.net/vbulletin and it worked. Try it and let me know if it works for all of you.
If so then a simple redirect from MikeC will fix it for good :)
If not... then it's back to the drawing board...
Just tried it again. It rejected my login on http://nvnews.net/vbulletin but accepted it on http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin

I never had problems, because I have my favorites link to www.nvnews.net
But I logged out, and went to nvnews.net/vbulletin and tried to login and it worked fine.
But I never had any problem, so IDK.

Yea it's strange cause I never use the www on my laptop and that works fine. It may have something to do with the browser and the DNS.

Wow, such a simple fix. Thanks Vin!
I discovered that the Kontera ads were preventing logons at one time.

Does anyone notice a Kontera ad while loggin on? The Kontera ads show up as links under certain keywords.
I removed the Kontera ad and was able to logon to an account that was previously unsuccessful.

:clap2: it was annoying! Revenue loss?
The link you posted says it has been resolved.Yeah, that was back in November. It's possible that is was fixed, but now it's broken again or that it was fixed partially.

We've become aware of an issue that is making it impossible to login via the front-end due to Kontera's ads delivery system. Please disable your Kontera ads for the time being until they provide an update or a fix.

Hi guys, I'm the Community Manager over at Kontera. Our tech team was addressing the sign in bug over the weekend, and as of 4/25/2010 everything should be working correctly - anyone who removed Kontera code from their page should feel free to re-enable it. I'm very sorry about the inconvenience and if there's further I can clarify/help you with, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks,
- Jonathan
