Any of you guys know a good video editing software that's better than Windows Movie Maker? Movie Maker compresses my HD game videos too much and also messes with the aspect ratio which creates 1inch black borders around my youtube videos.

I like Power Director, even though I only understand about 5% of it's capabilities.

I use this. It's awesome but, like Smee, I only utilize about a fraction of it's true potential.

i think the right questions would be.

1) do you want pay software or free?
2) what functions? HD video? youtube?

I have tried Adobe Premiere and I must say that if you are doing HD videos do yourself a favor and use Sony Vegas. Faster rendering and no issues.

yeah, premiere is a pain in an ass. didn't even let me important certain files, had to seperate video and audio to elementary streams, and import them seperatly, then audio sync issues started happening.

Free would be better. I am using the trial version of Sony Vegas Movie HD and it's perfect and not expensive at all. Under $40.

It is also instable as hell on some systems. (well, basically on every system I have seen it on. ;))

OMG it is a pain sometimes! Threw this together for a friend of a friend the other day. (NSFW)

I swear, premier must have crashed a half dozen times... Exporting directly to the media encoder didnt work, and trying to import the prproj into After Effects spits out like 6 errors in separate windows, then crashing during export....

Problem is, whenever using AME, I would get black video when using the aep file... So I would have to encode the prproj, then import the encoded file into AE, make the changes, and then use the built in export (not to AME) to re-encode the file.

But it works so well, when it works!

premiere has to be worst adobe product, i hope that they did some serious work on it in cs5.

Thats what I'm hoping for. Most of the stuff in the timeline editor works okay, but importing has stability issues. Sometimes it won't startup. Also had issues with VST plugins - no idea why they thought it was a good idea to load all VST by default.
