Not easy to use the keyboard with the MAC-Book on site also hard to cook egg like this.
All is not too bad since engadget said "with the machine, we actually noticed an improvement over the egg-cooking solutions of yesteryear." :)

PS
Maybe slaWter can give as some end user feedback.

Ya, read this (http://gizmodo.com/5524473/core-i7-macbook-pro-could-make-water-boil) source a few days ago on Gizmodo. That's ridiculous temp fluctuations.

Hoping to hear from slawter as well. :)

Thats what you get for putting that much power in a tiny device with no ventilation, Apple

the 2nd degree burns will cause scars on mac-fanboys' legs that will later be named "Apple Marks," which can be shown to a Genius at the Mac Store later to get free apps on their iphones.

I don't know - Using it on its side might be a whole new craze...

And I have an older generation Macbook and it gets REALLY hot as well. Never checked temps but it's enough where I can't have it on my lap.

This is why the entire concept of form over function is retarded.

So let's see. Apple has overpriced **** and it still doesn't perform well. Then they practically own any piece of software you make.

Why do people keep buying these things? :wtf:

I'll report back for sure. Can't wait to get this new MBP, been waiting for forever :)

But I guess this is just another site that wants to get hits by publishing an article like that. And as always, it's working out for them.

Not a single review I read about the 2010 MBPs, including i7 models, mentioned heat issues. Some of them even stated that the new model runs cooler.

engadget is not the site that run the test. PCauthority.au (http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/172791,macbook-pro-helps-core-i7-hit-100-degrees.aspx) was the site, read more about it there also some graphs included. I don't think it's made up story, they claim talking to Apple and this was the response:
A spokesperson from Apple said that the Macbook is "well within the safety requirements set by the US Safety Authority" and that the CPU temperature was "within the settings from Intel" (Specifications for the Core i7-620M provide operating temperatures of 0-105C(min-max)).

Anyway it should be easy to duplicate the test since they used "Maxon's Cinebench 11.5 (http://www.maxon.net/index.php?id=162)" which is free benchmark to test multithreading in CPUs

Also from the article:
The generally cool styling of the Macbook Pro just doesn't seem too capable when put up against the sheer output of Intel's Core i7 processor. This is reinforced by the Fujitsu Lifebook running 20 degrees cooler in the same tests with the same CPU.

FTA:

The score being spat out for the Photoshop tests - fourth in a suite of six test applications - in particular was quite low, and we wondered whether it was down to heat issues. When the test was then successfully run as a standalone test with the Macbook sitting on its side, unibody base exposed to the air, we suspected that the Core i7 was struggling within the Aluminium shell of the Macbook.

these things are like ~$4,000 right? that's the only price I found with Google, and they're not listed on apple.com. but Apple seems to think this is fine. at least it looks pretty I guess

So it's running so hot that it's scaling down clock speed to avoid overheating? Great..... sounds well worth the money to me...

so you think they must have had a defective unit?

so you think they must have had a defective unit?

Or changed the fan profiles.

All I can say is that my new i7 MBP runs much, much cooler than my old Core Duo 1st gen MBP.
Even under heavy load with Parallels, Aperture and other stuff performing CPU intensive tasks at the same time.

3/4 of my co-workers are Apple fans and many of them ran out and bought the i7 MBP. A couple have returned them, a couple more just deal with the heat, 1 person had theirs die, 1 person doesn't seem to have the heat problem at all.

Might just be the newness of the product? Maybe just a bad batch?

I know when I bought this laptop I chose the i5 over the i7 due to it running considerably cooler.
