Suburban Seattle shop will remain independent, develop wholly owned new IP exclusively for Call of Duty publisher through 2020 on "all platforms"

I thought MS still owned them.

Nope they split from MS. MS just retained the Halo IP.

I personally don't care much for Bungie, they haven't shown that they have much talent to create a great experiance.

Yeah. Halo 2 and 3 were terrible in single-player, in my opinion. The original was okay.

Interested to see their next project to see if they attempt to break from the mold. Halo though I like it is very sub standard in comparison to other games pushing the numbers it does. My brother was playing the BETA today for Reach and it still looks like ****. And Microsoft has to be a little upset.

You know, I could really see Activision having Bungie do a futuristic COD game.

I would bet they are saving the graphical leap for their own IP.

Hope Bungie can work their magic again. They had some awesome games back in the day. Oni, Myth. Halo was k, little boring SP wise. Oh and Marathon.

Oni was a 3rd person shooter/melee/fighter it was really pretty awesome, sucks that people can't be that creative now. 1 step forward 3 steps back...

Marathon was amazing, if you all like great old-school shooters with a crazy story, check those games out.

Please check them out guys. Bungie is more than Halo and I think they want to be more than Halo. Hence the reason they left it with MS I guess.

Myth II Soulblighter was an incredibly fun game, check out the open source mod which updates it to support new resolutions etc, I replayed it about a year ago and had a blast!

Reminds me of Rare. Did Rare do any decent games after being brought out by Microsoft?

Oni was pretty cool back in the day (2001) http://www.bungie.net/Projects/Oni/default.aspx

Pitty Activision is sure to grind Bungie into the ground.

Pitty Activision is sure to grind Bungie into the ground.

How will they do that? They do not own Bungie, they are just publishing their games for 10 years.

When there is money involved in the deal upfront, which your sure there is, it is more than a simple publishing contract.

I can't imagine Bungie are desperate enough for capital after the Halo games that they would need to sign their lives away to Activision. They also mention in the interviews that they retain full IP control and rights, as well as their own time-table.

They also mentioned that they even have control over the cost of the retail product.
