BWHAHAHAHAHA
Couldn't have happened to a better franchise.

JaMarcus Russel
39 million for 7 wins out of 25 starts!

I would call him stupid and lazy, but hey... He did take Weird Al for almost 40 million.. So I guess I'll just go with lazy.
Worst work ethic EVER!

Uhh...NO!

Ryan Leaf also had 25 starts, and won a total of 4 (yes FOUR) games. Had 14 TDs and 36 INTs Leaf's career passing rating was 50.

Ryan Leaf still holds the top spot. Leaf has had more felonies (9) than wins (4).

Leaf was paid less than 20 million of his contract, Russel will earn 42 million by the time the Raiders are officially off the hook (would have been over 50 million if they didn't cut him.

I don't think even inflation adjustment puts Leaf in a bigger bust category.

I wonder if Russell is going to get picked up anywhere... can they sign him with a low salary?

Probably. I think he's still is a good QB, but without a good offensive line, he will get chewed up anywhere he goes.

This guy wouldn't succeed if he had electrified razorwire as an offensive line, He showed up at camp and couldn't even get the ball in the same zip code as his receivers.. this was with NO pass rush. i.e combine style drills, That was all he basically did, because they didn't want to risk him getting a fingernail scratch or any other "injury" If he was injured in mini-camp, the Raiders would have been on the hook for his complete salary this year.

Yikes. Then let him join the ranks of people like Bernie Kosar. That guy sounds horrible.:thumbdwn:

He is the new poster child for rookie pay scale.

My hats off to the guys who get multimillion signing bonuses, and still bring it.

Can you imagine how unmotivated most people would be at their day job, if on your first day at work, your boss says "Welcome aboard Johnny, here's 15 million bucks to start you out with, and hey... don't sweat it if you suck and we have to fire your ass, cause you still get to keep the signing bonus." :headexplode:

There are rumblings of him going to the CFL or something...

The guy was bad, but I feel for the Raiders. Campbell didn't do jack while he was with the Skins, so I don't see how he will be the savior over there (especially without a strong O line)...The guy has talent, but he needs to be protected better than the Skins where able to do and better than the Raiders are likely to do...

Yep, no doubt that Leaf is still the biggest bust ever.

Russell is close, but Leaf is in a whole other level for his ineptness.

I guess it depends on what your definition of "bust" is, To me, it's measured in performance vs $$ spent.

That makes Russel an ever bigger bust in my opinion.

Many of top football sites are leading the story with Russel officially biggest bust ever etc...

I guess we can come to a middle point with this quote from Chris Mortenson. From an expectations standpoint, Leaf is the clearly the bigger bust.

Financially speaking however.. it's not even close.

You can't even begin to use those terms to figure this out.

The economics are COMPLETELY different now than they were then. Considering PPP and everything else related, AND looking at all the statistics v/s expectations, this one is a no-brainer in Leaf's favor ( rofl? )

Remember, Leaf set a record for that time for amount of money for a rookie.

Also, he actually was a finalist for the Heisman. Where was Russell?

Russell is the biggest bust NOW, but not all time. Memory is too short-term these days, I swear.

Holy crap, you didn't just use Leaf being a Heisman finalist as a plus in your argument did you?

Heisman winning QB's and BUST in the NFL are almost synonymous the past 30 years.

As a long time Raiders fan all I can say is "thank you" and "finally", I couldn't watch my favorite team anymore when he was at the helm, whole team looked dead, and once he got benched and Gradkowski came in the team came alive... for Gradkowski... imagine if they had Favre?

I feel bad for Kiffen and Cable both had Russell force down their throats by that mad pyschotic jerk - Al Davis... next on the list is DHB... he better put up or get out this year, anohter over paid bum...
