325Mhz looks lsow for the memory as this would be 2.8ns ( max 350 or so ) when the new versions of the 5600U are using 2.2ns memory at 400.
I'd have assumed 2.2 as well for the nv36, or is there going to be a ultra version ?

Andy
Doesn't matter, The FX5800 uses 1GHz memory while the FX5900 uses 850MHz memory and has a considerably high bandwith.
800MHz 128bit = 12.8GB/sec
650MHz 256bit = 20.8GB/sec
Thats an extra 8GB/sec bandwith over the current Flip chip FX5600 Ultra.
DSC: Well, I don't know about UltraShadow, but it's a very cheap to implement technology from my understanding. So it's fairly obvious the NV36 will support UltraShadow IMO.
Also, cho is just speculating there, refusing reliable sources and prefering his personal speculation. What can I say? The very fact that he says it might have GDDR3 puts his credibility to nil.
And I got 0 idea what he means by 2nd gen Ultra Shadow - I frankly fail to see a way to improve Ultra Shadow much further, unless nVidia would want to call a fundamentally different technology the same way, eh...

Darkcrow seems to have a picture of the NV36 GPU. Don't know how reliable it is though....
Nevermind, the image above is definately a photochop. Look at the 36.
That and it's on a red PCB, which nVIDIA don't do.

Anyone knows whether will it be using Vertex and Pixel shader 3.0 ?? And when will it be available in the market? Sept?
Nope it will have all the features of NV35, infact perhaps the NV36 is the FX value card?

Thinking about it further 325Mhz will be the minimum memory speed so Gainward etc are likely to do a 2.2ns version for their GS card.

I am sure Gainward will have there's overclocked to 680 or 700MHz.
Infact when you think about it, the Radeon 9800SE will go up against the GeForceFX 5700.
Everything is not that simple with the RADEON 9800 SE. As we reported last week, there are two versions of the RADEON 9800 SE: one with simplified PCB design and 128-bit memory, offering speeds comparable to that of the RADEON 9600-series, another is more powerful using 256-bit memory bus, but a slightly modified R350 core with only 4 rendering pipelines. Such more expensive solution will function at 325/600MHz for graphics processor/DDR SDRAM and will probably become an interesting option for enthusiasts. The only concern is that its price will be about $200 - $249, a bit more than a typical hardware enthusiast in budget can afford for a graphics card that needs a modification to perform on $299 or $399 level.

If they stick 2.2ns on it then it will be in the 800+ range.

Yeah but they won't overclock it that far the user has too :o

They already overclock the 5600U FX new revision that far, 400/800 effective.

Just means they've refined it a bit more from the initial version in nv35. Same API, slightly more efficient underneath.
But it won't be in the NV35, more likly the NV40.

whats the point of a radeon9800se if itll be like a 9500 pro in performance? I can get a much faster 9700 pro for $250 used now.......

*hits forehead*
Please. Stop talking. Not everything revolves around what you want.

relax dude, it is the needs of everyone and if the 9800se matches a 9500 pro, I feel sorry for *anyone* who buys it, period

It's geared for the OEM market.
You know, that GIANT market that CAN'T BUY USED CARDS

Not like MuFu knew it before me anyway ;)

LOL, well I've got my doubts about the bus now anyway (as you already know). The other idea sounds far more plausible if you assume a 128-bit interface... ~400/325MHz 5700 (TSOP) and ~500/425MHz 5700 Ultra (BGA). 425MHz with a 256-bit memory interface would be crazy for performance-mainstream.

I was wondering how much a FX 5700 will be priced since Radeon 9800SE(256-bit memory bus and 4-pipelines) is out and it is priced at about US$260. I guess if it is cheaper, it will surely bring in big money for Nvidia.

Since when is the 9800SE out? I don't remember seeing any announcements from ATI and don't see anything on ATI's website.
I just have a feeling the 9800SE is gonna be an OEM kind of thing since we haven't heard anything about it except thru somewhat dodgy sites.

Actually, 9800SE is already out in stores in Asia and it is selling for about US$260(in Singapore). It is by powercolor. I hope that FX 5700 can beat the price.

hm i wish someone would put up some benches or ship one to a review site.
Though i may be wrong, shoudlnt the price come down (compared to other US prices) once/if they get shipped here? Im estimating it will sell US for about 230?

Thats true because Asia has a cheap market and needs cheap cards, it was said that the 9800SE will be in the retail channel, but only in Asia
