View Full Version : 470 GTX EOL? 490 imminent?
http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/faith/end-of-the-road-for-gtx470/
Word has now reached us of a 375w, dual-GPU, GTX490. If true, then that could explain any reluctance to take new orders for the GTX470. nVidia could have choosen to move its GTX470 cores to the new GTX490 card, while it positions the 200w GTX465 chip against AMD’s Radeon HD 5850.
Hmm....

The GTX 490 dual graphics card, interesting, I could see this on the horizon very soon. I would hope they have a 480 refresh coming in the next few months, that I'm more interested in!
No surprise they decided to just break the PCIe 2.1 power envelope. TBH I don't really know why ATI didn't do the same. Well.... as long as they cool the thing well enough without excessive noise, it should be a monster!
Can't see how it would be possible without water cooling TBH. I guess we'll see..

wrt cooling, I don't see why they don't put two fans on the reference cards. it would be quieter because the fans wouldn't have to spin as fast and it would cool better too.
maybe even they should have a fan on the backside of the card also. and all the fans should be like those "spinner" rims you see on riced out cars. SWEET!
Maybe they'll just rebrand it to gtx475+...
