Has this dev team done something else before? Kinda worried about a brand new team.

Looks lovely though.

Risen and Gothic 1-3 were done by piranha bytes. This is being developed by spellbound, so who knows how well it will turn out lol.

Sure, but I'm pretty sure they've just copied over the game-mechanics from Risen because the fighting looks exactly the same. Got high hopes for this one! :)

EDIT: Great interview with Spellbound: Link (http://www.totalpcgaming.com/uncategorized/gothic-4-interview-and-first-images/)

One thing I loved about Risen was the difficulty. Games have gotten so frigging easy lately that it was a breath of fresh air to be challenged for once.

That actually interests me more about this game. It might have goo mechanics now and actually be playable put of the box rather then waiting for the 5th patch to fix a huge bug.

Risen was an awesome game. If this is anything like that, it will be a blind buy for me.

Maybe I played Gothic 2 in Vista last, but I thought sure it was Win7. Odd for there to be a difference in Win7 versus Vista though, since they are so similar. I'll have to download Gothic 2 again and see what's what.

Still if it is nVidia drivers then that is not the same as not working in Win7 period.

ohhh, still one of my favorite games,

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/master_of_orion_1_2/

I wish someone would do an updated graphics version of MOO1 and add multiplayer, was all about fleets and combat and research without too much crappy little detail like building farms or garbage like that...

Risen is owned by a different publisher so Gothic 4 will have to be using another engine.

Perfect?

I've run into game stopping bug's that have required me to console the you-tube gurus. Certain quest's out of order will ruin your game without notice. None of these newer Gothic games hold a candle to the first two. I feel that the inspiration just isn't there anymore with this series.
It seems too much like too many people were in on this game and (outside the main quest) there wasn't too much talk in house to make this a quest filled open world that deserves the attention of it's predecessors. Gothic 2 with add-on's is still the best (to me).
Sadly I gave up on Risen because I found the puzzles inside the volcano tedious, hard to complete because everywhere looked the same. I'm sure I'll finish eventually (rare with me to say that about any RPG). ;)

Can't remember if its a win7+nvidia issue or something else. I know one workaround is installing a really old driver, but I'm not gonna do that.
