I don't get where these other wireless networks are coming from. I live in a single family home with a good distance between houses. How far can my laptop pick up other connections??

They're all low signal, so it could be other people's connections. They look like they were installed by a company, hence the reason why they have apparently gibberish names.

I have found that many routers installed by the ISP have names that end with the last 5 digits of the WEP key. That makes guessing it easier :lol:

What ViN said, or some ISPs blanket the area with Wireless, and use their own software to pick up the best connection, but WEP key is probably the best answer, it's unique and easy, highly unsecured, but easy.
