View Full Version : GeForce FX 5600 BIOS
Has anybody flashed their FX5600 with a newer bios than what it came with? My bios number is 4.31.20.38. I see this site has newer bios files than that under the Gainward section. http://www.station-drivers.com/page/vgabios.htm
Just wondering if anybody knows what is diffrent in the newer bios.
I have a BFG FX5600 does anybody think it would hurt it to flash it with a gainward bios?

Errr that would most certainly fry your card. the 5600 Architecture is nothing like the 5900/5800

uhh, I dont think it works like that.
The 5600 Ultra is a completely different card than the 5800\5900. Your card would either not accept the BIOS or it would fry.
It works with some Radeons (9500, 9700, 9800) but those cards are all almost the same exact card, just different speeds.
Maybe Im wrong tho... Ive just never heard of anyone flashing a 5600 to anything else.
EDIT: Chris beat me to it :)

alright its just because ive flashed my 9700 to a 9800 pro and it works fine
same with my 9500 to 9800 pro
I falshed it and it worked ok but I went back to my old bios. The default clock on the update bios was 300/400 and my orginal bios the clock is 325/500.

Those cards can do that because they are all very close in clockspeeds and every card based off the R300 core can overclock just about the exact same amount, the FX's on the other hands have very big differences in clockspeeds which would make flashing your cards surely fry
