I mean really? Giving Rudy Gay(The WORST player in the league as far as +- goes) a max contract is insane. What about the Hawks? Do they REALLY think Joe Johnson(who isn't even a top 10 player) a max contract is a good idea? Joe Johnson won't amount to much any more than he is now. If anything, he'll decline. The same goes to Gay.
This is exactly why teams like the Grizzlies and Hawks will NEVER become contenders. They make stupid moves that sucks up all their cap space, and then they are left with dead weight players. There are only 5 players in the ENTIRE league that deserve max contracts. Kobe, DWade, Dwight, Durant, and Lebron. THATS IT. Not a single other player outside that deserves it. Chris Bosh you could possibly make a case for, but honestly he's a second fiddle player(like Joe Johnson), not the true star of a Championship team.
Now thats out of the way. Lets get on to the Cavaliers(aka the worst decision makers in the NBA). What the F*CK are they thinking about hiring Byron Scott? Umm... Excuse me, but isn't Byron Scott basically the EXACT same as Mike Brown? They both don't coach AT ALL. If anything, Mike Brown is actually GOOD with coaching defense scenarios. Byron Scott? He's worthless.
Mike Brown got fired for the EXACT two reasons Byron Scott did. They both absolutely blow at offensive coaching strategies and they are NOT capable of making critical adjustments when the game is on the line. Their strategy is "Give it to Paul/James, they'll handle the rest". Their strategies will not work with ANY TEAM. Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan even need some kind of direction. Not just "hey guys, just wing it, you'll figure it out". The reason Kobe and Jordan have so much success is due to Jackson mentoring them.
So congrats Hawks, Cavs, and Grizzlies. You just blew your chances of even THINKING about a championship for a solid 5 years. If you're lucky you'll reach the playoffs one of those years. Good Going! :thumbsup:
