Hi guys i'am new to this site and from reading the forums you guys know your video cards. I have a Dell XPS 710 Red, and would like to upgrade my card. I am running a 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS and would like to upgrade to a better card. My processor is a E6300 and the power supply is rated at 1000 Watts. I'am a casual gamer (Battlefield 2, Command and Conquer) and would like a card that will run the newer games. Thanks.

Whats your budget? Also are you sure about the power supply specs?

with 1000watt power supply and a big enough case, the only thing that you have to decide is how much you want to spend. However, the E6300 is an old CPU, and most newer cards would be "held back" by an old CPU as that one. You need to be looking at the "midrange" category of cards from this and last generation, and even those would be held back by the CPU, I'd imagine. Something like an ATi 4890, nVidia GTX 260, or ATi 5770 I'd imagine would do the trick.

Thanks for the quick replies. I guessed that the cpu would limit my choices but I still have over a year of warrenty on this computer and considering how much it cost I need to use it for as least another year. The Computer case is huge so size shouldn't be a problem and yes the power supply is rated at 1000 Watts. Again thanks again guys you help me alot.

If that is the case then you can find used cards like the gtx 260-285 on sites like [H] (http://hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17) for around $100-150. Awesome cards and amazing prices.
