The MSI GTX470 arrived today. First thing was to see how far I could overclock it...

Yeah dig that max temp :headexplode:



That was before I raised the max fan RPM speed to 90 (it was 70)... now the peak temp is only 85*C

Anyways, I loaded up Re4Xz0oRs ultra kick your butt config, high res nano suit, vegetation and advanced water shaders, force 16X AF in the Nvidia control panel and ran the benchmarks.

I also ran it with AA set to 16xQ and it loses about 11 fps

Maybe the man asked for crysis screens of your modded crysis and config :o and not some random shots in the crysis screen thread of vanilla crysis setups...

I wouldnt mind either. And i would suggest you using HP's Ultra config instead of that one, because it's less demanding and you'd earn about 10 more fps if you change. Just search for HP ultra config on crymod.

see I tried HP's ultra config and I thought my own was better. I'm running mine now with a few tweaks and am averaging 40~ish FPS with no AA

Okay, i just thought that Re4Xz0oRs's config was a little too heavy to run. A tweaked up version with better performance would to be for the better.

And what I think I'm most proud of, night visuals. After hanging out a friends houses who live away from city life, on fully lit full moon nights, it's actually quite bright once your eyes have adjusted to the light. I messed around with the HDR and light settings to try to reproduce as accurately as I could the volume of light filling the world. All of the configs Iv'e tried look good during the day but fall flat on their face at night or have strange SSAO settings giving objects a hazy glow and overall are far too dark to see anything. Real life isn't like this so why should crysis be any different?

It's a tricky balance though. You don't want it to be too bright because shadows and stuff will be washed out during daylight but not so dark you can't see anything. In my opinion, my config has struck a near perfect balance. to Re4Xz0oRs's credit though, his is the best of any custom config from anyone else that I've seen in regards to this.

Dude, you have the wrong nanosuit texture. That one is ugly, use the one i linked you, looks millions of times better.

Those are with 4xMSAA + TSAA or SSAA with nvidia inspector tool, not sure if its real SSAA or just TSAA. Kinda hard to tell.

Edit: Uploading the correct nanosuit for you. U can use it in Warhead as well.

Here's the new config. It's averaging around 40fps avg on the GPU benchmark @ 1920X1200 with no AA.

Drop the shadow texture size down to 1024 if you need an extra 7 or so FPS. Turn off POM if you want another 8 or 9 fps.


There is still some object pop up here and there but nothing worse than the rest of the high quality configs out there (as far as I can tell)


Give feedback if you can on what can/needs to be changed.

Crysis is still by far the best looking game out there....period....IMHO. Warhead plays great on my 5870 @ 1920x1200 8AA and looks simply awesome. No other game I've played comes close, although BFBC2 looks great also.

Parralax occlusion mapping. It's what makes the stones on the ground texures and snow, tire tracks in the dirt, etc go from a flat texture to a 3D raised texture.

IMO a 216gtx or higher can pull it off depending on the resolution you use but it eat up a good 10~12 fps on my GTX275.
