View Full Version : 8x+ MSAA on Quadro FXs
Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone with a Quadro FX ( not like they'd be many, eh ) could check the performance hits of 4x, 8x and 16x AA in a bench or two. Just personal curiosity.
Thanks! :)

P.S. : Yes, I partly did this post in hope nobody would do a stupid "First" one with no use at all.

MuFu.
Come on, I seriously want those numbers :/
Oh well, I'll have to ask someone I know with a Quadro FX 2000 I guess - I fear he won't have the time to do it anytime soon, though...

DO you think there is anyone here with $1600 to spend on a video card?
My config is atypical so take the result with a grain of salt.
I ran the DX9 Real-Time High-Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting program http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa in a 640x480 window with screen res of 3840x2400 using horizontal spanning mode with the window not crossing the boundary.
None: about 18fps
2X: about 16fps
4X: about 12fps
8X: about 8fps
16X about 5fps (window is black though)
This is with Det 44.71.
EDIT: added None and 2X
Wilson: Hmm, interesting. No bigger performance hits than normal ones...
This test is actually shows one of the two "extremes" ( in theory, that is ) - the one where there's ALWAYS loopback.
One potential problem is that the loopback is so huge that memory bandwidth is not the bottleneck even at 4x AA, so that would easily explain the "small" 8x hit.
Still, thanks for the numbers! ( if you got the number but didn't give it, how fast is it with 2x AA? Just wondering if it was memory bandwidth limited or not )

perhaps you should post this @ b3d if you have not done so already uttar... I am sure there will be someone there who either works on these cards or is in contact with a dev or other who does work with a quadro FX...
-edit- btw I meant this as a way to compare numbers with wilson :)
