I ordered the T1090 from amazon, had a 100 bucks worth of gift cards to use. Gonna use ready boost! Hopefully should overclock well, and run well, using the 8800ultra I have lying around for a graphics card.

The 1090 will pwn your q9550....and should be your main rig.

We'll see, it's all up in the air for me, if it really o/c's well than maybe.

What are the real-world benefits to readyboost?

I just built a 2gb DDR2 budget gaming rig for a friend, and if readyboost makes sense, maybe I'll hook that up for him.

About to order the same CPU in a mATX setup.

Yea I'm excited, should be nice, I'm hoping for some good overclock results. This might be my main rig depending on performance figures.

Well the main stuff arrived, the big box was packed pretty crappy, some really loose cardboard/paper stuff instead of the usual packing peanuts. Motherboard box was pretty damaged and bent, but the board itself looks fine. We'll see once I slap together everything, hopefully it works all great out of the box.

Here's the mobo box, appears to be the only thing messed up. Hopefully the HD works along with everything else!

Waiting for the case, today it should show up, is there any special drivers or patches I need to be aware of with AMD. Not too long ago, I remember having to have all sorts of new patches/drivers for AMD machine, I don't want any surprises.

Hmmm. Not that I know. I've always built AMD simply because cheaper price and I don't remember any price changes.

Runs pretty hot, even though where I'm at is a den that is pretty warm anyways, had to setup the ram to the correct timings. But everything runs great, temps are like CPU 45c idle - 57c load Chipset 50c idle - 59c load. I don't think I'll overclock, cause of the temps, maybe this winter I'll try something, but not in this climate.

Nice! Have you gotten a chance to play games on it yet? If so, impressions? Noticable difference from a quad?

v3rninater

Yes a little, most difference I've noticed is on Sins of a Solar empire, when I normally would get to huge battles, it would really start to hog down the ol' quad core system. But on this system, it really seems to run a lot better then before once we get to the point of millions of things going on at the same time. Also, UT3 seems to run extremely more smooth on this system, BFBC2 seems about the same. The only issue is I'm playing on an LCD that is 1280x1028 resolution, with an 8800ultra graphics card. So there's the possibility that my card could be limiting games like BFBC2 from shining like it could, or it could be just the resolution.

I have yet to play SC2 on it, which I would really like to do, so hopefully within the next week. I'm really enjoying this system, it started right up with no hiccups, and everything is running great, the only real minus is the heat, but it's not too bad.

Ya know, I'm pretty impressed so far and did not expect an amd proc to really be this good. I'm happy though, I remember the good ol days when amd had the first 1ghz proc. Course I had one..

I was exactly the same way when I moved from an e6600 @ 3.2Ghz to a Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.4Ghz. At first, the performance difference wasn't noticeable. However, it became obvious as soon as I started using programs that use more than 2 cores. In that area, the Phenom II runs circles around the e6600. What's even more amazing is the price of AMD's processors for the performance you get. Intel just can't compete with AMD on the value front. AMD and the AM3 platform is simply cheaper than anything intel has to offer.

Glad you like your 1090T! They truly are wonderful processors. :D
