Hi guys, I've gotten random bsods, pretty rare but enough to be irritating, and it traces back to this module. Here's what "whocrashed" shows.

On Sun 8/1/2010 10:32:42 AM your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe

Googling is pretty consistent in saying it's a registry error, but I can't find any solid fix other than offers to dl this or that registry "fixer" which I don't trust.

Anyone have any insight into this? Should I just attempt a repair using the DVD?

I'd try the repair and then just wipe and reload. That, or wait for a few more dumps to see if more relevant information comes up. That message is so generic it could occur for anything.

you had Bugcheck code: 0x50 BSOD

try these hotfix

KB976527 - Error message on a blue screen on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2: "STOP: 0x00000050"

and

KB951418 - Stop error in Win7 and in Win2008 R2: "0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"

and

KB979538 - "Stop 0x0000007E" or "Stop 0x00000050" Stop error message in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

not all causes of 0x00000050 BSOD are fixed by it, but it should help

Create an account, and post your minidump files there. The community are specialized in BSOD's. They helped me with mine, They said it was one of 3 things, my Kaspersky (Which turned out to actually be the error) and 2 others. But they helped me with it. And now it's working perfectly fine!

I recommend you do the same.
