View Full Version : Recommend upgrade from 8800GTS 512Mb on C2D 3.0Ghz

I need a new graphics card but need some advise. Currently I use an 8800GTS 512Mb on my C2D 3.0Ghx, 4GB RAM, Corsair HX 520W, W7 Pro system.

What would give me best bang for the buck?

PS. Is it maybe worth waiting for ATIs upcoming series, I'm not in any hurry...

GTX 460 is a very good card now.

And my CPU won't be a bottle neck?

Is my PSU (Corsair 520W) enough to power it?

Any thoughts on this?

Agreed. Just make sure it's the 1Gb version ;)

Your PSU should be fine with this. If you are OCing an upgrade might be an idea. Your CPU shouldn't be a problem.

CPU will mostly be a problem for applications that are CPU limited. I know there's a lot of debate about bottlenecks and whether quads or core i7s are needed. But I will say that I think faster processors do help you get higher minimum framerates, maybe not so much for the average though.
