Hi

I just got my hands on a Gainward FX5600U Golden Sample, and of course I am running benchmarks like hell. In 3DMark2003 v330 I have experienced rather large performance fluctuations (from 1313 to 1609 in 1600x1200). It is not due to other programs running in the background or other irregularities.

I have tried looking at the OC "auto detect" thing included in the nVidia driver (v44.03) via the coolbits reg-edit, and it shows a small difference when I compare all my results - a couple of MHz, nothing serious.

Can the card adjust the core/mem frequency on the run due to temperature differences or why does the score fluctuate so much?

Thanks in advance

Nope.

Just to show some the performance fluctuations in 3DMark03 v330:

1602 - 1313 - 1421 - 1327 - 1442 - 1258 - 1445 - 1576 - 1609 - 1603.

There is no program running in the background, no spyware, no virus, no programs installed in between. Most of the results are obtained just after each other, and some just after a reboot. 3DMark03 is set to repeat the tests 3 times to obtain the most precise results. Same thing happens in 3DMark2001SE.

It just does not make any sense.

Hmm, sounds like your card is switching back to 2D mode.
No idea what could cause this, though - might be a driver bug, or your card might be overheating.

Thought of that, BUT if it was switching from 400/800 to 235/800 there would be 2 groups of scores, not several intervals - i.e. around 1600 and 1400, not around 1260, 1320, 1430 and 1600.

BTW. if you wonder why the scores a so low, it is in 1600x1200 of course (forgot to mention).

Gotta love this card

Just bumped it up to 460/900 (400/800 is default and 450/900 is Enhanced mode default) and the 3Dmark score was 96xx.

Wee thatís only 800 less than at 400/800.

Hope the new beta driver works better - pretty weird none of that the reviews I have read seems to have experienced it, but most of them were of the previous version so.

Sometimes when the GPS gets hot you get lower performance then running at a lower speed happens to me. Ti4400 300/633MHz is faster then 315/650MHz for me.
