There has been a lot of talk about rape and what actually is consent and all. Just thought I'd throw this out here since I was watching this program with a discussion about this and they were saying many places are considering this policy that Antioch college has. :rolleyes:
Consent
1. For the purpose of this policy, "consent" shall be defined as follows: the act of willingly and verbally agreeing to engage in specific sexual contact or conduct.

2. If sexual contact and/or conduct is not mutually and simultaneously initiated, then the person who initiates sexual contact/conduct is responsible for getting the verbal consent of the other individual(s) involved.

3. Obtaining consent is an on-going process in any sexual interaction. Verbal consent should be obtained with each new level of physical and/or sexual contact/conduct in any given interaction, regardless of who initiates it. Asking "Do you want to have sex with me?" is not enough. The request for consent must be specific to each act.

4. The person with whom sexual contact/conduct is initiated is responsible to express verbally and/or physically her/his willingness or lack of willingness when reasonably possible.

5. If someone has initially consented but then stops consenting during a sexual interaction, she/he should communicate withdrawal verbally and/or through physical resistance. The other individual(s) must stop immediately.

6. To knowingly take advantage of someone who is under the influence of alcohol, drugs and/or prescribed medication is not acceptable behavior in the Antioch community.

7. If someone verbally agrees to engage in specific contact or conduct, but it is not of her/his own free will due to any of the circumstances stated in (a) through (d) below, then the person initiating shall be considered in violation of this policy if:

a) the person submitting is under the influence of alcohol or other substances supplied to her/him by the person initiating;
b) the person submitting is incapacitated by alcohol, drugs, and/or prescribed medication;
c) the person submitting is asleep or unconscious;
d) the person initiating has forced, threatened, coerced, or intimidated the other individual(s) into engaging in sexual contact and/or sexual conduct.

Just as a point of reference, Antioch College in the U.S. has already passed a section of a student conduct code which requires that a male ask for permission (EXPLICIT permission) from his potential partner at *every* stage of the sex act, from initial physical contact ("May I hold your hand?") to the ultimate contact involved in physical penetration.

Well, according to this you can't have sex with a drunk chick. hmm... And even if she's not drunk, well you basically have to have a permission slip for every "stage of sex". I leave this for you guys.

What a crock of ****. If you're drunk, **** can and probably will happen, and it's your fault for being drunk.

To put this in perspective, imagine this. If there's a drunk driver out on the roads, is it your fault if they run into you?

If you blow through a red-light, it sure as hell is.

How about this one. Don't have casual sex.

Kinda lessens the likelyhood of rape allegations, no?

*shrugs* if they chose to have casual sex, thats up to them. The problem is that you get girls who sleep with a guy decided he is an asshole for some reason and decide it is easier to say she was raped than consented to have sex with him. I stand by my comment of show me a feminist campaigning for equal rape laws and I will show you a pink shade of green.

Whoa....whoa, hold the Trojans here. I thought sex was as simple as one act - stick it in, pull it out, rise, wash, repeat. You mean to tell me that there are multiple "acts" involved in sex - on the same level as a play by Shakespere or a Broadway musical?!? When did this crap happen?

Just as a point of reference, Antioch College in the U.S. has already passed a section of a student conduct code which requires that a male ask for permission (EXPLICIT permission) from his potential partner at *every* stage of the sex act, from initial physical contact ("May I hold your hand?") to the ultimate contact involved in physical penetration.

These people are friggin' daft! Hand holding ain't sex! If so, there would be "hand condoms"on the market, playing "Ring Around The Rosie" in Kindergarden would be a criminal offense and - God forbid - my ass would've been in prison a long time ago because Gwen's always grabbing my hand and leading me to whatever she wants but can't reach. Worse yet, couples holding hands in a shopping mall or movie theater could be brought up on public indecency charges. Where do they get this awfully broad definition of sex anyway - from a Cracker Jack box?!?

Speaking of bryant, did you hear that his accuser actually bragged up on the size of the 'ole willy winky at a party? Seems kinda strange to be yapping about that if the allegations are true.

anyways... no matter how much I love the lakers... kobe is fully responsible for the mess he is in... he could have very easily avoided all this bs... but he choose to act otherwise... I chalk it up as another life learning experience for the lad..

I'm being facetious, for crying out loud. Sex with me is...is...well, I can't answer that since the physical limitations of the human body prevent someone from *CENSORED* themselves and, thusly, I'll forever be at a loss when it comes to rating the performance. But I'll have you know that the bedroom is my jungle.....................and WTF AM I TELLING YOU THIS FOR?!??!? :o :o :mad:

Flibble! Sick 'em!! :firedevil: :p

HAHA! I almost went to Antioch and one of my best friends did go there. It's a great place. Expensive, but great. I only live about 1 hour for there so I could visit him whenever I felt like it. If you ever saw that place, you'd understand why they take more of a drastic stand on this subject.

Perhaps someone should inform these individuals that it isn't always the guy who initiates. Oh yes, another double standard.

And now with the lengths this goes to...forget verbal consent. Who in their right mind would trust it when someone can consent and cry rape afterwards. We're fast approaching a point where verbal consent wouldn't be sufficient (without an audio recording of the event forget video, that's just too far out for me...so when the person claims not to have consented...it's on audio tape that they did); where to be safe a person would have to go to a lawyer and make out a sexual intercourse legal contract. Signed by both parties before witnesses, and bearing a seal of a notory public to be safe from false allegations.

If this ever did get appealed, I do wonder how the Supremes would look upon the need for a notorized document to cover one's arse before walking in the bedroom, due to false allegations made after the fact.
