Not a day too soon as the current dpad is useless.

They'll give anything a patent nowadays...

Still looks like it will cause issues. The problem is the fact that it is basically a d-pad button instead of actual directions :\.

wonder if they will fix the thumbsticks as well.

current ones are horrible, with couple degrees of play in each direction, makes old games very hard to play. dead zone issues.

Come on now. It has been almost 5 years now and they still haven't fixed RRoD...you really think they are capable of fixing something?

But you can apparently rotate the d-pad. The purpose of that still escapes me.

It's like the old Sega ones in this way. Sony's one is still similar though... the "buttons" are all connected, they're just separated by the controllers casing.

It raises it up, supposedly making it more useful in some games where the d-pad is more important than the stick.

I like the design, but not good enough.

Here are good d-pads. This is not one of them.

Adjustable tension sounds like a winner to me. Having more control over the analogue stick would be well appreciated. If it were a little harder to move around you can make finer adjustments.

This will go really well with the console that can't play co-op games...

Yea. I have found these to be a good way to make it easier to make the finer adjustments:

I use those on my 360 controller. They help out a lot in FPS games where it can be difficult to make those small adjustments toward the head.
