I just purchased this to play games:

PNY Verto Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT 1GB PCI-E video card 256bit GDDR3

I have a Dell Vostro 220s (slim tower)

I need someone to tell me this will, or will not work.
Do I need a higher wattage power supply?

Should I get a different card?

Any help is appreciated...newbie here

According to what I quickly googled, that slim PC only has a 250W PSU. I know some Dell PSU's have been stronger than reported, but from what I have read, the 9600 GT would probably need a 350W or higher.

The 9600 GT only has one power connector and it's not really a power hog, but 250W seems a bit low.

Yeah I would recommend you upgrade that power supply to at least a 400w

As for a good power supply I would go with the CORSAIR CX430. You can find it off newegg for $50. I have 2 of them in my computers at home.

that won't fit in vostro 220

the original power supply looks something like this

frankeljw, would have to check with Dell to see if they sell higher W PSU.

thats why you don't buy OEM computers, especially the slim models that use custom size parts.
