Took a peek at this at pcper.com; Looks interesting although I'm still not sure if the hsdl interface would be worth using over say a sata 3 controller. Seems like you could just take the two drives and have the same results.

Was thinking about this a little more and I just don't see how it makes sense. They are basically just moving a SI controller onto the drive, and plugging the cards in as a raid array. For the revodrive it sounded like you still need to have the drivers loaded to use it as one big drive.
So if you were to use a 4 port hdsl card, then you would have 4 seperate drives that you would have to create a software array of. (Unless the SI controllers can team with each other somehow) Then you would face the problem of redundancy. Even to use it as a raid 5 array you'd lose an entire drive to parity.
Pull those 2 cards out of each drive, slap an 8 port areca card into a PCIe slot and you have hardware raid 6 support with ram buffering. Seems like that would be the best option.

it makes sense for enterprise, not personal usage
It's mostly a space saver and standardization effort.
They are selling a 4-in-1 raid in a 3.5" format, itself raidable through high bandwidth interface.
*If* it picks up, it will be in the server/workstation boards, not consumer...
