Very talented people creating some great work out there. Using many different types of wood with great finishes and lots of hours and money go into these projects. Thing is most of them almost look the same. Google Arcade stick, they are all rectangular with different artwork. It’s obvious why they are this way; it’s been the standard forever. Low profile, comfortable, simple, and it just works.

To change it up I wanted to build a bigger stick, but continue to keep it low profile, and comfortable for lap or table top gaming. So thinking slightly "outside the box" while keeping the box I built a base that has a convex to prevent the stick from sliding and continue to allow a comfortable experience while on your lap.

You can see the basic design in my previous arcade build Previous build (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=151964&highlight=crossbone+arcade+stick), Link also in my sig.

I always want to up my work. Few things I’ve changed. From my last build

1. Quality, MUCH HIGHER than last time. I want to sell it so I'm expecting people to take it apart and look at it in every angle.

2. Something at least I have never seen done before. Interchangeable button and joystick layouts. I want to include at least 4 different layouts for the buttons. (US straight 8 and 6 button, Jap curve 8 and 6 button) and two different locations for the joystick.

3. Finish.
This time I left out the wood grain vinyl wrapping and went for paint. I wanted close to a piano black mirror gloss finish. Which requires allot of work. I’m doing around 4-5 coats of gloss black, oil bass, rolled, and 3 different grids of wet sand between each coat, and 2 coats of clear. 3M compound Meguiars Wax.

I have other cool concepts and new features I will unveil as i progress in my build.

For now pictures of what I got.

Wow pretty nice looking results so far. I couldn't image myself having the patience to wait that long between all the different coats. Looking like it's paying off so far though! Can't wait to see it finished. :)
